I have been to this wondrous place before! peaks at 5946 feet while the station is at 5300 feet. The Grandfather mountain weather station is very famous for its epic winds! Thought this climate would hit the sweet spot for some of the cold lovers like Speagles84 who need just a tad warmer summers than Mt Mitchell. Also those diurnal ranges are incredibly small! Which is a big positive as those highs are cold, if it had diurnal ranges similar to here avg lows year round would be 6-7 degree colder!

D. I didnβt know much there is a weather station existing represents a midpoint climate between Boone and Mount Mitchell, interesting though.

Summer is still too cool, but it's warmer than Mt Mitchell, and the winter rain is less extreme.

D+; summers too cool, far too wet, and too stable. Winters too frigid, and with too many warm fronts.

B Winters aren't cold enough for me, and I would want more snow. Summers and shoulder seasons are nice though. Summer highs could be a tad warmer, meh I regress to a B-.
