This will be an unusual post for me, but hopefully you'll like it. You will have 11 cities to choose from. I will pick 5 US cities and 6 intl. cities. San Francisco, CA Salt Lake City, Utah Wichita, KS Chicago, IL New York, NY Lisbon, Portugal Madrid, Spain Rome, Italy Dushanbe, Tajikistan Beijing, China Sendai, Japan They are all okay, but I'll pick Salt Lake City. Warm summers, cold but not overly cold winters with a decent amount of snow, and a good amount of precipitation. I will add similar climate battles if you guys want that.

The 3 first images says "image no longer available".
Anyway, I'll go with Chicago.

Chicago. Weird shit happens year-round and there's cold fronts even at summer. Almost every weather event can happen here, whether it's 100° temps, subzero highs, or tornadoes.

Lisbon looks pretty good. Or maybe Madrid for the drier winters and warmer summer highs (although it's cooler overall). Both solid choices.

Madrid looks pretty solid climate-wise, even with the colder winters than Rome – Madrid is also sunnier (it's a trade off for more sunshine versus milder winters), thus that is my choice.

Sendai for me, just barely beating Chicago.

Didn't even need to look at the tables to pick my choice.
Lisbon, and it isn't close.

Pretty much a tossup between Wichita and Salt Lake City. Wichita has much better variability and storms but Salt Lake City has much better snowfall and better averages. I’ll pick SLC but it’s very close.
Here’s my full ranking:
1. Salt Lake City 2. Wichita 3. Madrid 4. NYC 5. Chicago 6. Beijing 7. Sendai 8. Dushanbe 9. Rome 10. Lisbon 12. San Francisco.

Lisbon/Rome.
35-40N shouldn’t have freezing cold winters

1. Chicago 2. New York 3. Salt Lake City 4. Wichita 5. Sendai I thought for sure you’d pick Sendai. My first thought at seeing it was “that looks like an AJ climate”.

Why? It’s humid, cloudy, and stable all year. Average highs are pretty much the same as your dream climate and it still gets a decent amount of snow and then wet and stable summers.
