This is "Bogeyman Seasons Sheffield" - according to Netweather. Someone selected the following months (except September) from within the last 35-40 years, as representing the worst of our climate, to put together as a single year. Pretty shit innit? We have super mild winter months and crummery summer months. Personally, I'd have chosen much colder than average winter months but can see why many living at our latitude hate these super mild wet winter months. The months are: January 2020 February 2020 March 2023 April 2012 May 2021 June 2012 July 2012 August 1986 September 1993 (I chose this one) October 2019 November 2019 December 2012

Shouldn't Netweather love those cool and crisp summers? No passing out due to 22C highs while walking the dog.

Driest months from my 6 years in the Sheffield area only. Not bad, though I expected it to be sunnier. August was particularly dull.

MET that spring lag and spring drought is especially horrific, even by Shitfield standards

Here's two cherrypicks I have made, utilising this website. I am not sure whether it is accurate, but it's the best I have: TuTiempo.net. I only took the data from the last ten years (2014-2023) to increase the accuracy of this 'investigation' (and also because I am a bit lazy). Note that if two months are tied, the one with the highest mean temp (for the warmest maximums) and the lowest mean temp (for the coolest maximums) is counted. Also, the ludicrously high sunshine is the month from which data was taken (like March 2022). Firstly, these are the years with crummers the coolest maximums in each month. A fair amount of rainfall even in the driest months , and as expected, lots a rain (especially you March 2022). Those are some short autumns and long springs; and no one year dominated the climate box. Due to the extreme floods of March, and the expectely middling sunshine (~2300 hr), I would give it a B-. Secondly, these are the subtropique years the warmest maximums in each month. Obviously, heatwaves occur fairly regularly from September to April, with more sunshine, less rain and surprisingly higher dews. Its now Kรถppen Cfa also, and IMO, is an A grade (the original is A-) . Also, stop stealing the climate box 2023! You have Fรฉvrier, Mars, Juillet, Aoรปt et Septembre.

Recent 10-year of Paris makes a proper borderline Cfa/Cfb climate. Didn't included some months for sunshine hours if data misses more than 2 days.

Recent 10-year of Paris makes a proper borderline Cfa/Cfb climate. Didn't included some months for sunshine hours if data misses more than 2 days. 10 years isn't much, but wow. The average year reaches 100f but only 25 for a low. That would be zone 9a/9b! I figured it got some below freezing weather, more than that.

This is the highest maximums, updated with sunshine hours. Sun was calculated This calculator (though I think it underestimates the sunshine here, so I divided all results by 0.95). It's a BSh climate; and has two highly unpredictably wet seasons: in autumn and winter. Temperatures and sunshine are Sydney-esque; and heatwaves often occur between September and April. For my experience (since 2014), several of these years were warm and sunny; especially 2018 and 2023. However, I gives this a B, losing several points for its lack of rainfall and a little bit for having a fairly cloudy summer. Here is the highest minimums; which IMO is noticeably worse. 9/12 of these months are from 2010s, confirming the steadily rising minimums here. Due to El Niรฑo, yes, 2017, 2019 and 2023 were relatively warm and dry years here. Summers and winters are pretty s**t with the strato-crapulus; while springs and autumns are great. Overall, it earns a B-; with obvious downsides in its sunshine and rainfall distribution. Also. humidity and dew points were calculated using this, as BoM doesn't provide any historical figures past the last year. I think that summer dews are over exaggerated- we are too far southern to experience 19ยบC frequently! More data will come soon...

This is the chart of lowest maximum temperature of months here. Sun was calculated This calculator (though I think it underestimates the sunshine here, so I divided all results by 0.95). It's a Cwb (due to the dry July), but like 1.5ยบC cooler in every month year round compared to our averages, with temperatures comparable to far northern New Zealand. Summers are washed out and mild; and it is fairly rainy for most of the year (though winters are drier and sunnier). Pretty dull and wet overall, but with the nice temperatures, I will give this a C+ (same grade as Failbourne). Meanwhile, I much prefer lowest minimum temperatures. The diurnal temperature range is expectedly higher; while rainfall, humidity and nights are lower (with a few of the record low temps). Sunshine is good, with August 1997 being the sunniest on record; and only October 2003 being duller than the normals. Due to having random wet and dry months, it is either a Csb or Cwb; but with temps near spot-on fitting with Whangฤrei, New Zealand. Due to the good sunshine, I will give this a B+, identical to regular Ulladulla.

Here is Wettest Months, nothing too unexpected. We are still a Cfb, but more moderated. Obviously lower diurnals, lower sunshine and higher relative humidity. It gets a C, losing lots of points for the excessive rainfall. I am surprised how many of our wettest months are in this decade: 7/12! Also, some of the winter months have relatively high sunshine; as the rainfall was concentrated in a few days by heavy downpours, allowing lots of sun to come it. Here is Driest Months, with all main stats (temps, rain, sun) comparable to the Atacama or Namib Deserts. Has higher diurnals, more sunshine and lower humidity, and has a BWk (by 18ยบC isotherm) classification. It gets B: only losing points for the pitiful lack of significant rain (besides occasional summer showers). November and December are surprisingly cloudy; and also, many of our driest years are in the 20th century.

Here is Cherrypicked Ulladulla based on sunshine. If there is a tie, the most recent year is included (I had to break the tie somehow). Also, I only chose to include months after 2007, as that's when my home AWS' station began to record sunshine data (so the sunshine wouldn't be quite as high). Sunniest months is guess what... a Cfb, with BSk influences. It's practically sunny and dry for almost the entire year, except with an unpredictable monsoon from easterly downpours in February. I would give this a A-, only losing points for the lack of rain (though sunshine is very close to my ideal)! Cloudiest months is our climate but with the sunshine of much of Southern Brazil. Rainfall, although lower than wettest months, is still going to cause flooding (particularly in March). Comfy, though I would be a little depressed due to the sunshine and excessive drizzle and flooding, so a C it is.

Here are all the months with record highs. If there was a tie, I used the warmer month: Very warm and dry, looks like southeast Colorado. Years used: Jan 2015 Feb 2017 Mar 2012 (warmer than 1921) Apr 1992 May 2000 Jun 2012 (warmer than 1954) July 2005 Aug 1902 Sep 2019 (warmer than 2020) Oct 1926 (warmer than 1991) Nov 2006 Dec 1939

Hereโs record lows, unfortunately these are all ancient and canโt happen anymore. This would be an awesome year of interesting weather. June 1947 especially looks heavenly. That 131 f range in February 1951 occurred in just 9 days. And went from -41 to 70 to -18 in just 12 days. Years used: Jan 1930 Feb 1951 Mar 1943 Apr 1945 May 1917 Jun 1947 July 1903 Aug 1910 Sep 1985 Oct 1905 Nov 1916 Dec 1919

This is a Sheffield climate average made up from any records, averages for temps, rain etc... from any months in the time 2018-2024 so far, that produces a year most in accordance with my preferences. I like milder winters, cooler summer days with milder nights, more sun in winter and less sun in summer (relative to daylength), and as for rain, it is more complicated - I only like convective rain and since we don't get much here, when I select months with less frontal rain my ideal Sheffield ends up with a very dry climate (whereas in my dream climate, there is quite a lot of rain, because there is a lot of convection). So this is what my ideal Sheffield would look like, that would have about a 0.000001% chance of happening, but is "technically" possible at least.

I selected some months since 1929, to make this hybrid year. It would be too dry, but a jolly decent year if these months all happened. A seasonal winter with snow, and good seasonal lead in spring, with a mild rather than warm summer (so not too much heat), and a sharp change to cold weather in October.

@coolman18 Here's a cherrypick of the coldest days on record for Seattle-Tacoma: Tommy made a rate the climate thread for cherrypick warmest days, 1991-2020 data there mind you though I think it would be mostly the same with entire POR: cdweather.boards.net/thread/4525/rate-warm-seattle
