How important is it that each month have the weather you prefer? ie. your climate is too hot so is it more important to get cold in January or July etc.
Heres my rankings:
1. March—this is the most important month. Unless it’s noticeably above average it feels like another winter month with a few extra mold days which I hate. Nothing worse than a cold March
2. April—it’s cool enough on average so a cold April is awful and still feels cold and shitty and dan seem like spring is taking forever to arrive however it’s not as bad as a cold March.
3. February—slightly less important as a warm February still feels wintry but it’s still very nice to be above average and feel slightly less cold and shitty. A cold February is disastrous, it’s a slap in the face to get the coldest month after two winter months
4. May—May is warm enough so even a cold may isn’t that bad but I’d still like warm at this point so a cold may is very frustrating. At least record cold in May has an interest factor like 2020.
5. November—A cold November feels like an extra winter month. This is actually the closest month to my dream climate temp wise but as Rochester’s winters are too long and cold a warm November is very welcome.
6. September—It’s been so long since we didn’t have a very warm September but I’d imagine a cool one feels like summer has gone too soon. I’m not ready for cool weather and fall so it’s important September is warm
7. July—July would be a couple notches higher except for the fact I’m often traveling so the stats are only on paper. It has potential to be epic or crummery but since I’m not actually experiencing it falls in the middle.
8. August—same as July but less potential to have an epic hot month, although 2016 was hotter than 147 Julys.
9. December—I like snow and cold the most in December but a warm one like 2015 is awesome as it shortens the winter season and a mild one still has hints of fall. However I don’t really care if it’s cold as it’s already a winter month.
10. January—At this point I don’t really care. January gets the 10th spot as it has the potential to be pretty bad if it’s cold and stable but the bad ones are far less bad than a bad spring month and unless it’s bad they all blur. Don’t even know what a very good January would look like.
11. October—It’s been 11 years since we had a below average October so I could be forgetting what that feels like. I don’t think there’s been any memorably good or bad ones though. I’ll root for warm and dry like any month but it’s hard to get a terrible or great October and if there is it’ll be less terrible than most other months can be.
12. June. I don’t really give a fuck about June. I’ll root for heatwaves but they’ll be weaker than in summer. It’s warm enough a cool June is still warm and summery and the hot ones are less interesting than the peak summer months. It’s almost always going to be an enjoyable month.

Most Important (Top) to Least Important (Bottom):
I. July–August (Mid–Late Winter): MUST be cold + wet. The local ecosystem and industry depend on it, especially given that these two months have traditionally always featured the highest frontal activity.
II. June (Early Winter): Usually lower frontal activity than Jul–Aug, so being cold + wet isn't as great a priority.
III. September–October (Early–Mid Spring): The thunderstorm season, but I still expect high frontal activity and to generally be cool + wet (especially September). The most variable/chaotic season of the year.
IV. May (Late Autumn): Barely starting the frontal season, so it doesn't hurt to have short periods of warm + dry, but should generally be cool + wet.
V. November (Late Spring): Thunderstorm season peak, but I don't expect any reliable rainfall. Again, like September and October, always manages to be variable in one way or another. This is generally when I start rooting for heat, instead of cold.
VI. December–February (Summer): The only expectation, is that it should be hot + dry with high-quality thunderstorms thrown into the mix.
VII. March–April (Early–Mid Autumn): Usually the most stable and uneventful season, so I don't expect much weather-wise. Instead, I use the time wisely to go fishing, etc.

Not sure about the ranking as every month is somehow important. The lower months are either always nice or always bad no matter what year.
March - I'm sick of winter and loathe nothing more than cold and clouds by then. A good March, on the other hand, can have blue skies for days on end and an explosion of life. So which kind of March I get is extremely important.
April - a good April can be like summer and a bad one can have snow in the first weeks (although such extreme late-season snow is kinda interesting) and bare trees the whole month.
May - I want nothing more than warmth, some heat (though not excessive) and thunderstorms. Though slightly less important than the other spring months because a bad May is more pleasant than a bad March or April
September - it's important to be warmer than average because the normal cool-down here is too abrupt for me. It is also important to have it on the dry side, though occasional thunderstorms are allowed.
June - thunderstorms and avoidance of drought is important as is to get a warmer than average and sunny month. But Junes are seldom disgusting.
February - a good month can be sunny and springlike, and on the other hand even a full winter blast is quite nice. So it's important to get below or above average months, likewise the cold and wet cesspool that our average February is should be avoided.
July - even a below average July will be pleasant and will have some warm days. Though it's kinda important to get epic thunderstorms and avoid drought during that month, also I wan't at least one heat wave.
August - similar to July, though I'm more drought tolerant but otherwise a colder than avg month is slightly worse because that means summer is over.
December & January - it's gonna be cloudy as hell anyway, a snowy month is nice, a dry month okay, and a rainy month horrendous. So it's quite important but a really great month is almost unachievable.
October - most important is sunshine to enhance autumn colours but even a way above average month won't be very sunny so there not much to hope for.
November - same as October but sunshine is even less likely, a good month is dry and sees the first air frosts and maybe even snow, a bad month is purgatory.

Think October, April, and then May are the most valuable for me, expect winter to be harsh here and don't mind/care about a cold/warm March, the month seems interesting if it is mild or if it has snowstorms (or both), it's already quite a bit nicer than winter itself here and close to my ideal winter averages. Only in April/May do I get irritated about winter, I would want these to be spring months, think May is generally fine even if it's a bit below average but April can vary from being nice to being quite bleh, I can still tolerate cold springs here though. Cold Octobers (à la Moscow) otoh are devastating as there won't be more sustained >50f weather for months, and it feels you are cheated out of a final comfortable month. Summer can be a bit streaky at times, with some overly hot and humid spells but it's generally decent to nice, although I dislike some of the heat-wave July's that we have had last decade, and am more sensitive to a few degrees difference in summer vs winter for personal comfort.
My ranking:
1. October (cold Octobers are devastating and shorten the warm season, warm Octobers are lovely) 2. April (warm Aprils feel nice and springlike while cold Aprils are meh, kinda used to crappy Aprils so it isn't quite as much of a shock although at least extremely irritating) 3. May (still important, but much more reliable nowadays that even below avg can be alright) 4. September (still important, but much more reliable nowadays that even below avg can be alright) 5. July (can be too hot and quite a bit less comfortable during some of the hotter summers here but generally decent) 6. November (always okayish, not too severe, but a cold one can lengthen winter) 7. January (concern about excessive cold waves, but cold is expected) 8. February (concern about excessive cold waves, but cold is expected) 9. August (generally nice even if hotter/cooler than avg but can be less comfortable than June) 10. June (generally nice even if hotter/cooler than avg) 11. December (generally not too harsh even if below average, fine with winter then) 12. March (tends to be interesting even if cold/mild)
May and Sept seem quite important overall to climates, perhaps even as important than Oct and Apr overall to me and perhaps more than winter as long as it is not excessively cold [so I would still prefer somewhere like Moscow over Stockholm due to the warm May] but since the averages are close to my desired avgs deviations don't have much of a negative impact. Summer temps are also more important overall than winter to me (as in a lesser deviation from my ideal is more important).

1. November — Very important as a cold November is essentially another winter month but November lacks interesting cold extremes or heavy snows that you get in actual winter. Either a very pleasant month or a shitty, boring month that makes February and March worse.
2. May — May is normally our best month but if it it’s dry it’s a huge let down as the best part of the year is taken away. At leas average precipitation is a must.
3. April — Wet is hugely important. Dry April’s just have relentless wind attack which makes it feel shitty. Plus after the very dry winter rain and storms are overdue.
4. June — Similar to May but June is warmer and drier so less likely to be as good as May, therefore if it’s dry I’m not missing out on as much.
5. March — Warm and/or wet is important here. Last March which was well below average was awful.
6. February — Now we’re getting to less important months. Rarely going to be great, generally pleasant if not sustained below average, and it wouldn’t extend winter unlike November or March. Still I don’t like backloaded winters and I’m bored by then so a bit more important than the other winter months.
7. January — Like February but mid winter so less important if it’s good.
8. December — Like January but cold is still a novelty at this point so below average is more acceptable.
9. August — Usually not going to be terrible but it’s the driest summer month so while I want cool and wet, it’s not that likely to happen.
10. July — I’ve spent 3 days total here in July so idgaf.
11. September — September is a very nice month with very little interesting weather. And in fall I just want nice weather for hiking so I don’t care if it’s boring.
12. October — Exceedingly pleasant whether below average or above and interesting weather is just a bonus, not something I care about in October.

1. November: If it's cooler than normal and dry it's a very nice month, pleasant temps, feels "fall-like" by our standards, and the early sunsets are less annoying. If it's warm and wet it's one of the worst months of the year, horrifically early sunsets, super buggy, can still be very unpleasant temp wise, and if wet waterlogged due to the weak sun.
2. December: Again with the absurdly shitty daylight times if it's warmer and wetter than normal it's complete ass. Cool weather is also crucial during the holiday season. Except for extremely rare occasions like 2015 it can't be as abysmal as November objectively though.
3. April: Can be a glorious month with severe storms interspersed with long dry, mild periods and lots of daylight or be hot as fuck.
4 (tie) January/February: Very unlikely for it to be unpleasantly hot for long stretches. Cold snaps are exciting but not crucial. These are the most pleasant months and usually deliver.
6. March: Also usually pleasant, and the return of afternoon light is amazing, less potential for true cold like Jan/Feb so not as disappointing if it whiffs.
7. May: A good may is an extension of the season where it isn't painful to be outdoors, a bad may is an extra summer month
8: October: See above but less likely to be tolerable.
9-12 (Tie): (Jun-Sep) These months are all identical and are all guaranteed to be horrific. Just a miserable blur you wait through to get to actual weather

Sep: Must be sunny and dry with little or no rainfall!
Oct/Nov: As above, though I can take some thunder in the latter
July-Aug: More dry, westerly (foehn) style weather needed here (as koyaan calls it "icy westerlies")
March/Feb: Should not very wet as floods happen here the most June: As above (i.e. east coast lows), but not too important as June is generally chill (no pun intended)
Dec/January: I would prefer some 40C+ days here (but no biggie)
May: Which is my birthday month, and it's really as unimportant as my birthday lmao

1. July - I want plenty of hot days and sunny conditions, with some decent thunderstorms thrown in. 2. August - same as July. 3. June - want more thunderstorms than in July/August, hot days and fair weather. 4. May - gotta be a sunny May, otherwise is not good. Also prefer to get some hotter(summery) weather. 5. September - similar to May, prefer it to be hotter than May 6. April - want nice spring weather, not too rainy or too cold. 7. October - want comfortable fall weather, not too rainy or too windy. 8. January - snow and frost are a must, I want cold temps and not much rain. 9. February - similar to January, although it's alright if February is spring/March-like. 10. March - want a sunny and dry March, not too windy. 11. December - often disappointed by the lack of snow/cold, can't expect much out of this month. 12. November - the most boring month of the year, too warm for snow and often cloudy. The most interesting weather is fog lol.

1.September- Prefer a relatively warm and sunny September, with some showers sprinkled to reduce summer bushfire risk. Cold Septembers feel like an extension of winter. 2.August- Same reasons as September, but bushfire risk is zero. 3.July- Wet and cold Julys are bad, while warm and dry Julys are great (nights don't get too cold, we are not far from the coast. 4.October- Cool and wet Octobers feel like depression; warm and dry risk bushfires. I think mild, sunny and moderately wet is ideal. 5.January- I want some more days approaching 30ºC with nights below 20ºC; plenty of sun and several downpours (not drizzle). 6.June- More foehn winds from the Great Dividing Range to bring cool, dry weather would be nice. 7.March- Warmer than average would be nice; but average is still great. Make sure to not dump over 700 mm in a month! 8.May- Mild and moderately wet, typically with a good amount of sunshine. Still another nice month. 9.December- A nice and warm month, typically dry and sunny (not 2023). I want rainfall to be concentrated into quick showers; and more partly cloudy weather! 10.February- Usually warm, humid and rainy. I think I prefer just less drizzle and more sunshine. 11.November- Another great month, the only thing I expect is a good amount of sunshine (which doesn't happen enough) 12.April- Always a pleasant month, with a fair mixture of sunshine, rainfall and good temps; whether drier, wetter, warmer or cooler than average.
