I've just discovered that my forecast temps have been upgraded, quite severely. Here is a cap of my delight relating to the matter, and also, pertinent details, including the comical cold consecutively in southern Victoria. Further collaboration from our very own Noodleman regarding the matter, also a bonus remark about why houses are gay in his area.

Yesterday had a high of 12C and may end up having been our last day above 10C for the year! Today's forecast high is 9C and then after that our highs are just above freezing.
Lows are getting cold too, they've been reasonably mild so far but are about to drop below -5C for the rest of the week. We even have two -9C lows in the forecast, so our chances of hitting -10C this week is pretty decent.
It's been a nice gradual transition so far, though. Some years we just fly off the edge of the cliff into winter whereas this time around we've actually had what feels like a longer and milder fall than normal. Much appreciated!

Last day above 10C this year already, wow that is a depressing thought It's definitely a bit early this year. Our average high right now is 12.2C for today (but rapidly dropping, about one degree Celsius every three to four days), however we're coming into a pretty significant cold snap that's seeing our highs well below average, and the long-term forecast is showing that lasting through the end of the month pretty much. And by the time we hit late October/early November our chances of seeing another 10C high are pretty low. It could happen again once or twice but it could also just as easily not happen, and we certainly won't be seeing double digit highs on any kind of regular basis again until probably April. And yes it is kind of depressing, I would far prefer to continue having 10C highs on a regular basis through the rest of the month and even partway into November, and then have them come back again once March rolls around.

It's almost beyond comprehension how cold Saskatoon is.

^ Indeed, Saskatoon is the land of legendary cold Lots of posters from all over the world on this forum, but I don't think anyone else even comes close to me as far as winter averages and extremes go. Yesterday had a high of 12C and may end up having been our last day above 10C for the year! Today's forecast high is 9C and then after that our highs are just above freezing. Lows are getting cold too, they've been reasonably mild so far but are about to drop below -5C for the rest of the week. Much appreciated! huh, would have thought your climate is so variable, you'd still get a few more warm days. guess that's more Alberta? Normally we would. Highs above 10C usually still happen here and there through the end of the month, sometimes even one or two in November. But as mentioned in another post, we have a major cold snap starting up that's going to have highs well below average for the next two weeks or so, and by the time it's done we'll be essentially past the time of mild days even in a "normal" year. Something else to note is that in addition to the variability of this climate, the averages also plunge very quickly at this time of the year, from an average high of about 12C now to 5C by the end of the month, so a couple weeks can make quite a large difference.

The only freeze at the airport was a -0.9'C a few weeks ago when the low at the uni was 3.3'C. There still hasn't been any freeze in most parts of the city. It will be a very late, possibly the latest for me, first frost.

Min temperature was 3 Β°C this morning, the coldest so far this season. I embraced the fresh, dry and windless air when I stepped out of the door.

Seeming as I've just looked up the weather for Oymyakon, their average highs in October go from about +1C at the start of the month to something like -19C at the end. Weirdly though the record highs don't seem to change much at all in the second half of the month. pogodaiklimat.ru/monitor.php?id=24688That's a really good site for getting information actually, shame it's so hard to navigate if you can't read much Cyrillic.

Today was epic, smoke nearly approached Labor Day levels.
There was another nighttime warmth burst, with it reaching 68 (20 c) at 2:40 AM.
It started off extremely smoky with barely any visibility, with the AQI reaching a stunning 462, well into the βhazardousβ range. There was also ashfall throughout the day.
The cold front came through at 12:50 PM, dropping the temp from 71 to 62 f in just 10 minutes.
All afternoon there was a big smoke plume, with same mid-day sunset look as labor day. It was cool looking to the north, you could see a sharp transition from blue sky to eerie backlit orange clouds to the thick purplish smoke.
Turns out the Cameron Peak fire, going on 2 months now, has burned to about 10 miles away from me. Mandatory evacuations are now in place just 5 miles NW of me! Iβm not worried, I doubt the fire will jump Horsetooth reservoir and if it does, thereβs not much to burn so itβll die after the outer far western neighborhoods.

Meanwhile first freeze for us last night. Came quite surprisingly, as no forecast expected this. -0.9C was the low.
