Should be fun. So calm this morning. Just drove to the Berkshires at 2000 feet. Really windy here Getting windy here too. Was out around 3:00 and it was dark enough to have the headlights on. Looks like a strong line of storms might move through this evening.

Looks like a strong line of storms might move through this evening. was hiking today on the side of Mt. Greylock. Really windy above 2000 feet, but depended on which valley I was in. Was worried a front was about to come in and blast me with wind (didn't have internet and just knew the wind gusts were supposed to arrive around 7 pm at home, may be earlier further west). Was also worried I'd get rained on. Started drizzling a bit around 4:40 pm, then poured harder just as I got to my car at 8 pm

The winds were pretty wicked. Power flickered and street lights briefly went out. Some areas are without power.

Had some crazy gusts here too. I went for a bike ride; about halfway through it started downpouring like crazy and there was a tornado warning. Downed tree branches everywhere. Pretty exhilarating though I wished it was colder. ouch that was bad timing. or did you time it on purpose?

ouch that was bad timing. or did you time it on purpose? Nope, totally coincidental. I always ride my bike on Sunday evening; usually don't bother to check the weather.

2020 is still just ahead of 2012 for record low Arctic sea ice coverage, I'd imagine it must be further ahead if we're talking about ice thickness given how it was so slow to start reforming. You'd expect that should mean mild winters for us but 2012-13 was actually pretty cold, especially March.

There was another interesting warmth burst this morning. It was in the 30s before the wind suddenly picked up, the humidity dropped and the temp shot up to 56 (13 c) at 4 AM!
This was followed by a sharp temp crash as winds died down:
At 4:10 AM, it was 55 (13 c) At 4:20 AM, it was 40 (4 c)
Thatβs a 15 f drop in 10 mins, maybe the highest Iβve seen.
It ended up getting to the mid 60s todayβobservations havenβt been filled in since 8 AM but nearby Loveland airport hit 66 (19 c).
Through the first half of November, weβre averaging 60.3/28.9 f. Continuing the theme of the past few months, the highs are +5.3 f while the lows are only +0.1 f.
