Some SW winds off the mountains sent the temp all the way up to 70 (21 c) this morning with gusty winds. Interestingly, it was only in the 40s at the airport the which is only 10 miles southeast.
Most of the day was in the 60s with a second warmth spurt hitting 68 (20 c) just before sunset.
Parts of the eastern plains got into the low 80s today! Amazing warmth for mid November.

We got snow! Started snowing last night and continued today. 2 cm was recorded this morning in Trondheim (127 m ASL) but now it's more, like 5 cm. The snow is not quite dry but not very wet either, it is as we say it in Norwegian: KramsnΓΈ. Good for making snowballs. Low was -1.8C.
It will melt soon, highs about 4C tonight & tomorrow and 7C saturday.

I'm not sure if this was posted earlier, but here's the CPC DJ&F seasonal outlook for the U.S.; temperatures and precipitation seem typical of a La NiΓ±a winter.

We got several more centimetres of snow today, on top of the already ridiculous amount from the blizzard, which still hasn't been fully cleared out. I think we may have actually gotten more snow in the past two weeks than we'd had in the entire of last winter, or the winter before that.

Today had another insane warmth burst from west winds this morning. The high was 67 (19 c) just after midnight with temps in the 60s lasting until a bit after 1 AM.
The afternoon high was 61 (16 c) with sunny skies, the last 60s for awhile I think.
Next week looks stable and seasonable with 45-55 highs and sun every day.

Warmest year on record likely in southern Finland
Higher temperatures are impacting the natural environment and bringing more plant pests into the region.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute's measuring station at Jokioinen, just outside the south-central town of Forssa, has recorded repeated record-breaking high temperatures throughout this year. The months of January, February, March, June, September and October were all unseasonably warm this year as has the month of November so far.
Mika Rantanen, a researcher at the institute, says that there is a reasonable probability that this year will be the warmest in the history of weather measurement in southern Finland. The same may be true for the north of the country, but that will depend on the situation come December.
Many researchers agree that this year has confirmed the trend of climate change. Changes are already evident in the spruce forests of southern Finland.
In past years, acorns carried by birds and squirrels have rarely sprouted in these forests.
"Now oak seedlings have appeared among the spruces, and the seedlings also seem to be successful," says Professor Raisa MÀkipÀÀ of the Natural Resources Institute.
A new pest found attacking spring wheat this year was the larvae of the Amphipoea fucosa moth. Although not directly tied to climate change, its appearance was the sum of many associated factors.
"At least the changing conditions of the growing season and the past mild autumn and early winter are, in my opinion, related to climate change," says Huusela-Veistola.

I'm confused, doesn't Finland have natural oak forests?
