Tropical Storm Beta could be bringing quite a bit of rainfall, especially in areas hit hard by Laura. Looking like it will make landfall in Texas then move toward Louisiana.
Atlantic systems already being named with the Greek alphabet - only other time it was used was 2005.

Based on Montsouris data, yesterday morning was the 2nd warmest low ever happened for the month after 13th September 2016 with a low of 21.9ยฐC. And these two are the only records holding above 20ยฐC.
The mother of all storms hit the town of Valleraugue in southern France north of Montpellier.
706 mm (27.8") fell today, from which 362 mm (14.3") in 3 hours.
Crazy weather for such a benign climate...wtf.
I wouldn't call it benign. It's the region in France where hazardous weather is most likely. The 24h rainfall record for metropolitan France is from a place near Perpignan (1000 mm in a day, 1940 mm in 5 days) and you can imagine the damage in hilly or downright mountainous regions.
In the 3 years I spent on the Riviera I had a 500 mm+ month and a destructive storm the year after.
Umeรฅ airport recorded its first freeze last night with a low of -0.9'C. I was outdoors at 4 am last night, right around the of the low, my bike thermometer was showing 3.7'C, and the university 3.8'C. I couldn't see any semblance of a frost anywhere.

Yes I think this was the most WTF moment of this already exceptional month.
For some reason I still hear dripping sounds and the soil is all soft and wet despite the fact that we apparently only got a couple mm yesterday evening. Maybe it's normal and I'm not accustomed to rain anymore...

Is there a significant UHI effect there?

Some UHI effect, but a lot of it is topography too. The airport is well known to be one of the coldest spots in the city. The mildest parts, like the city center and some of the hills, will often be 5-10'C milder during clear, still and cold nights compared to the airport. Only some of the particularly cold spots around the city will actually have similar lows to the airport, usually fields locates in valleys and depressions.

Had 1ยฐC this morning, saw thick ground frost this morning at 7 am. Some other towns in the areas got a freeze. Rather early for here. When's your median first frost / freeze?

Yeah that makes sense because of the topography/temperature inversions.

Wow that is insane, to say the least.
But I mean, looking at the climate boxes and maybe visiting for a few days any time of the year, people would get the wrong impression of the climate. The tij's of the world would be quite surprised if they decided to move there.

It's apparently still summer in Umeรฅ because we haven't had 5 consecutive days below 10'C in mean temperature...
It's even more summer in Trondheim Vรฆrnes because while we almost had 5 consecutive days below 10'C, they have only had three consecutive days at most.
Edit: SMHI's own version of calculating mean temperature has had slightly higher result than the 24h average meaning we've only had 2 consecutive <10'C days in total, which basically means we have got super summer still, destroying those norwegian cucks.
In other news, looking at last year's photos, 2020 is almost one week earlier than 2019 in terms of fall foliage, despite August and September being much warmer 2020.
