Forecast January temperature/precipitation anomalies according to CPC for the USA. Might not be surprising if January ends up similar to December temp-wise. Latest 8-14 day forecast shows colder than normal across the Deep South; warm for the northern & western U.S. 3-4 week forecast issued Fri showed warmer than normal except for the SE corner.   |

rozenn did you end up getting any snow? I'm in NYC right now, current temp is 37 F (2.8 C) and cloudy, wind chill of 29 F (-1.7 C). We actually got quite heavy snow this morning, but it didn't stick due to above freezing temps. Temperature was about 35 F (1.7 C) when it was snowing this morning. Temperature has barely fluctuated today, low has been 35 F, high so far 38 F.

I'm not all that pissed tbh, it wasn't supposed to be the snowfall of the century, and the marginal temps and piss poor precip rate meant no chance for a snowpack to form. What I'm angry at, is that the snow we were supposed to get tomorrow under colder temps has disappeared as well.  |

Same fucking with the forecast storms here on Jan 1 and 2.... anywhere to the north, NE, east, SE and south got hammered by multiple systems while I got to watch the distant flashes receeding into the distance. The usual places in New SOuth Wankles got clobbered multiple times, even the gay climates in SW Victoria. Beyond all rational comprehension. Holy shit. When I wanna check the current weather, I look outside, and check the temperature at the Uni station. I had no idea it had been this bad. The lows have been 5'C milder at the Uni station compared to the airport. So the first couple of days it was -3'C to -8'C every time I checked, which is cold but not exactly frigid, and then the last couple of days it's been about -8'C to -13'C. Which, while cold, isn't at all like -18'C  Also, nice year switch. |
