Coolest morning year to date in the BA area. The Central Observatory recorded a low of 13.0°C, which isn't outstanding, but the Ezeiza Airport station reached 7.1°C. The city of Luján (60 km to the west) had a low of 6.5°C.

Had a cold front come through last night, which knocked temperatures back down to seasonal levels. Had a low of 60 F (15.6 C) this morning, and it's currently 74 F (23.3 C) with a 57 F (13.9 C) with overcast skies as of 1 pm. Much nicer than it's been, although it's pathetic that it takes a cold front to give us these temperatures in fucking February.

Very impressive snowfall totals in Southern Arkansas this past week, up to two feet (61 cm) in some spots! Massive snowfall for them! I saw Little Rock had their snowiest month on record. Yep, and in reality they had their snowiest month on record in a span of just four days. Impressive stuff, they also came within 0.2" of break their daily snowfall record (they received 11.8" on the 17th, record is 12"). Little Rock also recorded their first subzero temperature since December 23, 1989 on Tuesday morning.

The warmth really overperformed today. It's 47°F (8.5°C) just an hour before sunset. We don't usually have our high this late in the day, and it was only forecast to hit 41°F (5°C).

Today was fantastic, got up to -4C and sunny in the afternoon. The sunshine is definitely stronger too now. It's on days like this you can really tell you're no longer in the depths of winter and that spring is indeed just around the corner. Love it!

A Day Of Temperature Contrasts In Melbourne "Olympic Park in the south of Melbourne recorded a top of 23.8 degrees at 10am EDT this morning, while the airport further north topped out at 32.6 degrees at 4pm - significant differences considering they're only 20 km apart. Northeasterly winds at the airport allowed the mercury to rise during the late morning before southerly component winds dropped temperatures a few degrees a little after midday. Winds then swung more east with a little bit of north and picked up the peak of the heat from northern inland, resulting in the top of 32.6. The southerly winds kicked in again just after 4pm and dropped temps to the mid-20's by 5pm. In contrast, Olympic Park missed the warmer northerly component winds and was dominated by the cooler southerly air blowing across Port Phillip Bay keeping temperatures in the low 20's." Image: Winds and temperature at 2pm EDT Saturday 20th February using the ECMWF model. The northerly winds and southerly winds can be seen over both locations at this time step creating the stark temperature difference. "On Sunday, temperatures should be more similar between the locations with a dominant southerly flow. However, compared to the sunshine today, the skies are likely to be filled with clouds." Here's the Paris-Orly daily anecdote. I noticed that since the beginning of the year, weekends were often significantly cooler than weekdays, so I calculated the 2021 Mo-Fr and Sa-Su averages and it indeed shows in the stats: Mo-Fr: 7.6/2.7°C (46/37°F) Sa-Su: 5.5/0.5°C (42/33°F) Interesting... or not. Well, that's it for today's weather tidbit. See you tomorrow! 2C and overcast in Riga this morning. Snow cover has reduced from 19 to 18 cm. Temperatures in Europe this morning: Sharp contrast in Karelia!

Fuckannnnnn, the diurnal was exactly 1C: 2.8/1.8C. Some freezing rain meant that it's extremely slippery.
