Today, early in the morning a new national cold record of this winter was recorded: -30.1c. It was again recorded in the north-east of the country. The last time the country had a temperature below -30c was in 2012. So - February of this year has been a real beast.
My nearest weather station recorded the coldest temperature of the winter as well, that was -25.7c. The day was also very cold but sunny, with 9 hours of sunshine (not 5.8 hours as WO says).

Seems like the snow totals were somewhat low in the northeast. My parents only got 3" from the storm.

After tonight, this wretched cold snap is finally OVER! We're dropping down to -23C overnight and then all of our highs in the coming week are above -10C (several of them above freezing!) and all our lows are above -15C except for one night at -16C. This will be our first high above -10C since February 3rd and our first low above -20C since February 2nd. Also our first time going above freezing since January 20th. The best part of this? By pure coincidence, I'm working this coming Saturday and will be taking Monday off instead, and Monday happens to have a forecast high of 5C

Picked up 3.6โ (9 cm) of snow last night so thereโs a nice coating on the ground now.
Through 18 days, the month is averaging 32.8/11.7 f which is 10.3 f below average. Pretty impressive although the rest of the month will erase some of that.

The last very cold night of the season with a low of -15.6C in Riga - one of the coldest, but not the coldest. Clear and very sunny morning.

Helsinki has clocked 77 sunshine hours so far, which is already a few hours above the monthly average and there's still 10 days to go. In comparison Paris Montsouris has managed 45 hours so far, despite having the benefit of longer days.

71h in Umeรฅ, 79h in Trondheim. They had a whopping 65h in January though compared to just 28h in Umeรฅ.
Since Dec 1st we've had 103h of sunshine. They've had a whopping 162h.

Fucking nasty weather here today. Overnight low was only 75 F (23.9 C) and it's 86 F (30 C) with a 70 F (21.1 C) dew point as of noontime, heading up to 88 F (31.1 C) today.
"Cold front" coming tonight, knocking temps back down to seasonable/slightly above normal. Will drop down to 60 F (15.6 C) tonight which will feel very nice compared to the putrid weather we've had the last two weeks.

Who needs Florida? I am sure a lot of cold weather lovers would prefer this beach over Miami.

Some thunderstorms building inland, of course they're moving in a direction that they're fucking off from here, moving in an ENE to NE direction.

Imagine having 3 C lows in the warmest month of the year. In sub-Antarctic Coldchurch, you don't have to imagine! The worst part is that this didn't even threaten any records:
