Pretty average month. A few heavy falls but mostly light-to-moderate rain. Much less storm activity than the numbers would seem to indicate.

Temps ended up close to normal, but highs 1.5F below normal but lows 1.6F above normal. Precip more than an inch above normal. Summer-like conditions persisted the first half of the month with hot temps and humidity and some scattered convective storms (mostly missing Alexandria). Then a cold front came lowering temps and moisture from T. S. Beta brought cloudy conditions and a day with heavy rainfall. A fairly strong front arrived at the end of the month bringing lows down to the 50's and low humidity. Lowest max: 73F Highest min: 78F Days 90F+: 17 Days with thunder: 4 (seems like it was a bit more) Highest dewpoint: 79F Lowest dewpoint: 39F Average dewpoint: 67.6F

September was average (+0.6F) and a bit dry (-0.56"). The most unusual thing was the lack of hot days. It's not rare to see 90F in September and high 80s are common, but the warmest was just 83F/28C, the mildest since 1997. Unlike last September, this month felt like a fall month. Last year averaged 75.1/60.8, with an average dew point much higher (60 versus 54).
Mid-month also saw a 14-day spell without rain. Two weeks without rain isn't common, from xmacis.rcc-acis.org/ I found that it happens slightly more than once a year. There was a trace one day, but no measurable rain. Three days with thunder, the 6th-7th-8th.
The airport has some of the mildest lows in the area in fall. Some low-lying areas away from Lake Michigan saw a first frost on the 19th when the airport reached 42.

I will then post my climate boxes in this forum as Ariete wanted. Warm September, also drier. The same can be said for the whole country. The sunshine was also a little above average. Attachments:

We had our tenth coldest September on record, and a drier than normal one as well. We had our earliest sub-60F (15.5C) high by four days. Much of the middle of the month was smoky/hazy.
