Here is a total asskissing climate for what I believe is Ängler's slightly tweaked preferences. It's based on real-world Shinjo, Yamagata. Biggest changes are cooler winter record highs and the hotter/drier summers. Did not change winter precip or avg temps at all. I'll give it a B+ or A- depending on how frequent and long the hot spells are.

D+. Holy shit those winters are snowy. Summer looks nice, though short. Yearly sunshine and precipitation totals are OK. Records are weak.

Angler would hate the “bone chilling winters”.
Anyway the climate kinda sucks outside of summer. C.

C-.
Ski-resort snowfall amounts with awfully cloudy winters would get old after a while, and those summers, although pleasant, are rather brief.

A+: arse-kissing successful!
Winters are a little too cold…but the snow ratio is legendary, with an excellent precip pattern. I also love that the winter records don't deviate much from the averages. Summers are epic, but unfortunately, early summer is too cool compared to mid and late summer.

I don't even know how snow ratios like that are possible (ok sure, Siberian air hitting warmer waters with orographic intensification). You only get anything close to that in Canada if you are in NL but the temps are much much colder.
Fuck, I forgot about Tokamachi. It has warmer winters, more winter precip, and even more snow. Should've used that. I'll make another ass kissing climate with that one in a bit.

C December and January's cloudiness prevents it from being a B-. Other than that, records are weak outside of summer, summer is too dry, and winter is too snowy. But it looks interesting overall.

D.
The temperature profile is actually quite nice (aside from the summers being a bit hot for my liking), however it's ruined by the extreme winter snow, extreme winter cloudiness (and sunshine distribution in general), and wet winter/dry summer precipitation pattern.

B. Good seasonal range but winter is too snowy. And summer takes too long to get hot, then gets a bit too hot and dry. September should not be warmer than June.

Now if only I were deemed deserving of an ass-kissing climate...
