It was a really crazy March this year, extremely snowy and very cold; 8th coldest March on record and the coldest since 2013. Month started off with a very extreme, bitter cold snap which was tying all time March minimum records, and while the cold eased a little bit after the 5th, the first half off the month remained very cold compared to normal and very consistently too. Another very strong cold snap hit mid-month, coming close to tying daily record minimum temps but didn't quite do so, then after March 20 a very strong warm up occurred until the 28th, which kept March from being at least in the top 5 coldest of all-time. Month ended with a very severe blizzard followed by a strong cold snap. This storm was notably stormy and snowy, shattering the all-time record snowiest March on record which was March 2008 (112.4 inches) with an astonishing 155.5" (395 cm) of snow this month, which is the fourth snowiest of all time, and the snowiest month since November 2000! Also the streak of subzero (in F) days ended on March 18th, ending the streak at 121 days!
Top 6 snowiest months (snowfall amount in parenthesis):
1.) November 1976 (188.1"/478 cm)
2.) December 1989 (176.3"/448 cm)
3.) November 2000 (156.2"/397 cm)
4.) March 2018 (155.5"/395 cm)

6.) December 1977 (142.3"/362 cm)

As a result of citywide midterm exams, Jacarandopolis forecasts were unfortunately a bit delayed
March 26: 18/11C, mild, gentle breeze, sunny March 27: 18/10C, mild, partly cloudy March 28: 19/11C, mild, partly cloudy March 29: 16/10C, chilly and rainy March 30: 15/10C, chilly and rainy March 31: 18/10C, milder, sunnier April 1: 17/7C, sunny but very chilly April 2: 18/11C, sunny, a tad milder April 3: 18/10C, sunny, breezy April 4: 16/15C, breezy and cool, partly cloudy April 5: 20/9C, very breezy, partly cloudy April 6: 18/8C, sunny and breezy April 7: 17/11C, sunny, a bit chilly April 8: 20/12C, partly cloudy, windy
Unseasonably cool and chilly period of weather. Backdoor fronts from the Pacific keeping the temperatures at bay. Highs expected to be between 15 and 20C, with partial cloudiness mixed with breaks of sunshine. The areas near the ocean will feel particularly chilly and will require a sweater or even a light jacket. As is typical of early spring, the pattern is still very stable, similar to that of winter. That said, the pattern looks like it will change soon, and a much more favorable pattern is expected in the near future...
