Synopsis: Blue northerly conditions will continue for the first couple of days of the forecast, with heavy cloud cover, high winds, cold temperatures and very light snowfall. Afterwards, a very severe cold snap is in the books bringing extreme cold and heavy ice fog and very little wind.

Haven't posted in a while. For context, last week was cold and very snowy with 14 in/35 cm of snow falling yesterday. Snowfall for the entire week totaled around 2 ft/61 cm. This week is looking below average and snowy, but a milder pattern will begin to take hold next weekend. Models suggest a dreadful Christmas this year with temperatures well above average. It may be a major letdown after a cold and snowy start to December.

Will be doing the forecast to finish off December today.
Synopsis: December will end on an extremely cold note, as the amplified trough that's been gripping the region recently will keep hold. A rare low pressure system that won't be necessarily bringing in milder air will come through the region during Christmas Eve/Day, with temperatures that are still going to be very cold but the system will deliver a good deal of very dry, powdery snow to the region. After Christmas, even colder air is set to grip the region bringing the coldest temps in years.

Remaining mild this week. There's still some snow on the ground but much of it got washed away with the rain and mild temperatures. The upcoming week won't help with the snow cover, but so much fell earlier in the month that it won't be completely eliminated.
