Isn't that a bit cold for your tastes? I know you like a warmer winter I think it's an improvement over current NYC, as you may know our weather has been a disaster these past two weeks Yeah I know... it's just where the capital of my fictional country is and where I as the supreme leader spend April-October in, aside from that I'm in my winter residence in "Drömsta" (Dreamville), which is an island offshore a few km west of the landmass (35°N) Drömsta: 1/1: 19/6; sunny, clear night 2/1: 21/10; sunny, wet evening 3/1: 20/11; overcast 4/1: 17/12; rainy (8 mm) 5/1: 19/8; clear 6/1: 19/14; sunny but overcast night 7/1: 16/10; rainy (15 mm) but brief sunshine mid-day Better for the coldest month you think? Lol now it's too warm maybe there is an island on the landmass itself that matches my preferences, something a couple of degrees cooler than Dromsta

That's a nice forecast, I fucks with that if only North America at 39N could be like that lol It's actually a combo climate between Portugal winters but with milder summers, so not sure whether you'd like them sunny and dry 24/15 crummers in Ensjunka nor the 23/17 on the immediate open sea, but luckily for you it's 29/14 not far inland in Nedersjunka Nedersjunka this week: 1/1: 16/2; slippery when wet (16 mm) 2/1: 22/3; sunny all day 3/1: 16/7; overcast, partially sunny 4/1: 16/10; rainy (9 mm) 5/1: 14/-1; clear & light frost 6/1: 17/-3; bright sunshine, interior wind frost 7/1: 15/3; 9 mm of rain, but mostly clear I'ma set up a new rate the climate thread for that one because just made a weatherbox for it In the meantime, what do you think of Nedersjunka's week?

Monthly Summary: An extremely cold month! Second coldest December on record (behind 1983) and the coldest month actually since then, also the fifth coldest month ever recorded in Winter Haven. A high pressure was stuck to the east for the grand majority of the month, ushering in a near constantly northerly, polar flow allowing for extreme cold to take place at a near constant rate. A few big snowfalls that interrupted the polar flow also allowed for the month to be snowier than normal - a rarity for an extreme cold month. December 2017 was the 5th coldest month ever recorded. Also, the first month since February 2010 to not rise above 0 F (-17.8 C) a single time.
Top 6 coldest months (mean temp in parenthesis):
1.) January 1977 (-66.1 F/-54.5 C)
2.) February 1978 (-65.6 F/-54.2 C)
3.) January 1978 (-65.1 F/-53.9 C)
4.) December 1983 (-60.1 F/-51.2 C)
5.) December 2017 (-58.5 F/-50.3 C)
6.) February 1977 (-57.5 F/-49.7 C)
Deadly Northerlies
A Deadly Northerly is defined as a very severe winter where the three month average is more than 20 F (11.1 C) below the seasonal norms. These type of winters are usually caused by an unusually strong Arctic High pressure being placed to the east of Winter Haven that doesn't budge for weeks or even months, ushering in an unlimited supply of northerly, arctic air. In 178 years of records (since 1840), 12 different Deadly Northerlies have occurred, an average of about once every 15 years. Most recent one in the winter of 2000-2001. The most severe Deadly Northerly to occur was during the winter of 1977-1978, where all three winter months are in the top 10 coldest months ever recorded (December 1977, not listed in the top 6, is ranked 8th all-time). That winter finished an astonishing 41.9 F (23.3 C) below average!
This winter has all the makings of a classic, old fashioned "Deadly Norther" with December being so cold, and January forecast to be no different.

I'm going to start doing 15-day forecasts from now on, so I don't have to create forecasts as often lol. Also, long-range predictions at WHMA (Winter Haven Meteorological Agency) are becoming deadly accurate up to 15-20 days out.
Synopsis: Extreme cold continues, with the possibility of all-time records being broken, particularly in the time frame of January 12th through the 17th. Good news for the people of Winter Haven however, some big moderation is on tap for the time frame after January 23rd to seasonable conditions, but it will become quite snowy. Unfortunately, doesn't look like it'll rise above zero (0 F/-18 C) anytime soon. Also, models are hinting at extreme cold making a return in early February through at least mid-February. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday (1/11): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -83 Low: -93
Friday (1/12): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -84 Low: -94
Saturday (1/13): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -84 Low: -95
Sunday (1/14): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds: High: -85 Low: -96
Monday (1/15): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -84 Low: -96
Tuesday (1/16): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -85 Low: -95
Wednesday (1/17): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds: High: -84 Low: -96
Thursday (1/18): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds: High: -83 Low: -95
Friday (1/19): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -82 Low: -94
Saturday (1/20): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -81 Low: -93
Sunday (1/21): Extremely cold with ice fog. Calm winds. High: -80 Low: -92
Monday (1/22): Starting off extremely cold, then a SE wind coming in in the afternoon. Rising temps throughout the day and through the night, with snow starting in the evening. 1-4" of snow predicted, and winds out of the ESE at 15-25 mph, gusting to 35 mph at times. High: -47 Low: -48
Tuesday (1/23): Rising temps through the day, with snow becoming heavier through the morning and afternoon. Winds will become stronger out of the SE at 25-40 mph, with gusts to 55 mph on occasion. Snow will be very heavy at times with reduced visibility a certainty. 12-20" of snow predicted. High: -20 Low: -30
Wednesday (1/24): Snow becoming less heavy through the morning and early afternoon hours, being reduced to flurries and snow showers later in the afternoon. Winds decreasing to 10-20 mph. Temperatures will be seasonable, and 6-8" of snow predicted. High: -15 Low: -29
Thursday (1/25): Snow showers and flurries being numerous through the day, but nothing too heavy. There will be a breeze out of the east at 10-20 mph, and temperatures will be seasonable. 1-3" of snow predicted. High: -15 Low: -30
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Temperatures in bold are all-time records, as you can see they are being challenged in this extreme cold snap.

Yeah 2-week forecasts are better to do imo. Kinda hard to follow up week after week, but also cause you get more coherent temperatures. When you do one-week forecasts you sorta want to squeeze all sorts of possible weather into that forecast lol
