Great job! Those summers in Kansai are becoming a serious issue... In fact, last August was the warmest ever recorded over 130~150 years of history in Kansai and surrounded regions. Other places(from Tohoku to Kyushu) were also very close to beat. |

I got really confused when I first saw these as I didn't realise Japan had such warm climates (also, I thought "wow, Tokyo Prefecture must cover a really large area!"). Then I saw that they're actually remote islands (similar to NZ's Raoul Island). Minamitorishima Island may just be my new favourite climate There is no resident population. Unfortunately the general public isn't allowed to enter but only the Self-Defense Forces and the Japanese Meteorological Agency staff are permitted. I think the main reason why the island gets a sufficient amount of sunshine combined with a relatively drier climate by the country's standard is that located east of the 150th meridian east, avoiding the usual typhoon developing route. |
