That's a colder year than pretty much all of Southern Sweden (south of Gävle) averages! Even our annual high has been higher I did Umeå in 2014 and 2015, the two mildest days post-war. Definitely a tale of two cities, but somehow both ended up being aggregated to 5.2C although the crummer of 2015 actually was milder, sensationally enough 2015 really must've been an odd year up there. Cold asf May, only real summer in August and still the mildest for generations!

^^ It always makes me laugh how your sunshine seems so "all or nothing" The contrast between February/March and September/October 2014 must literally have been like night and day!

^^ It always makes me laugh how your sunshine always seems so "all or nothing" I'm in the middle of Skipton and Umeå but yes I'd agree that getting 84.7 % of your annual sunshine between April and September is a bit excessive even for the high 63N

Coastal? Check. Stronger sun than Nyköping and Stockholm? Check. The rest? Not in check Inukjuak with the added misery of the 2015 cold wave!

How's this for one of the coldest ever years? Mostly down to a frigid Spring and the coldest August and Novembers (in max temps) on record.

Saint Petersburg in 2010. Talk about havoc with the combination of an extreme continental year with a UHI! The 24.4C July mean on a sea coast right underneath 60N is also something else

That 2010 heatwave looks even more impressive compared to the fairly mediocre May/June they had leading up to it!

OK fair enough, but there's nothing about that June that suggested what was to come though, I've never seen anywhere where the average July low was higher than the average June high.

Mediocre May? It was 2C above average! Yes. I liked his post because he mentioned June and I was too lazy to make that point on May That -10C avg high for January is very impressive though, did Turku even match that in 1987?
