Under the KΓΆppen climate classification, RΓo Turbio is classified as a subpolar oceanic climate (KΓΆppen climate classification: Cfc) with cold winters. The climate is characterized by strong westerly winds, which are generated by the influence of the two semi-permanent high pressure systems in the South Atlantic and South Pacific. The space between the climate description and the weatherbox was large due to the infobox having a map of Argentina on it. I rate this an A- for the dryness. Source is the Santa Cruz provincial government.

E+. For the temps itβs not bad at all but the complete lack of warmth and interesting weather sucks.

C+
Not bad but probably no thunderstorms. It's just a tad boring.

Automatic F for not having seen 90'F or warmer on record. Can't say it's undeserved with summers like those.

A solid E. Year-around comfortable weather (at least for me) and it looks like it has the potential for some decently strong winter cold snaps. But good god, boring as all fuck. Needs way more annual range.

A 'D' for all round awfulness but an A for the total contrast to where I live in the Southern Hemisphere ( albeit 40* latitude difference ). The district was featured recently on the motorcycle travel documentary 'Long Way Up', with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Would be an amazing place to visit. There are similar miserable places in the 'Roaring 40's' West Coast of Tasmania.... not as extremely cold as Rio Turbio but pretty awful by Aussie standards. Waratah springs to mind........

^^ Yes, I walked part of the track in late Dec a few years ago, after weeks of +43c's at Yandicoogina in the Pilbara. An 8c day at Park HQ, and raining.....trust me it was a pretty shitty day for the unaclimatised... and not much in the way of waterproof winter gear. Bought a plastic poncho to try and keep dry lol !

F+. Strong winds combined with fridge-like temps is a miserable combination, but at least it's fairly dry and gets some warm weather once in a blue moon.
