A subtropical, high elevation (for Qld) climate with warm, stable summers and cool, drier winters. As with SE Qld climates, there's a significant precipitation peak in summer. The most variable time of the year is Spring. I'd give it a B, pretty nice year around, perfectly liveable but there needs to be some more raw heat.

D+
Awful precip pattern, summers too wet, winters too warm and far too dry.

C-. It's a C climate, but the precip pattern is what causes the minus.

Toowoomba, at almost 700m asl, is a welcome relief from the heat and humidity of the Lockyer Valley ( and eastwards through to Brisbane ). Winters can be surprisingly cool for the latitude ( 27.6*S ) It is Australia's largest ( by population about 140k ) inland City and is the capital of one of the wealthiest farming districts in Australia, the Darling Downs. It has always surprised me to see mangos, bananas and other subtropical fruits growing in the Lockyer Valley at the bottom of the range, then 20 miles later in Toowoomba there are peaches, pears, apples and stone fruits growing throughout the suburbs. The City itself is perched on the top of the Great Dividing Ranges.... some areas the waters flow east to the sea, and the majority of runoff flows west into the Murray - Darling Basin. Due to the summer maximum rain fall pattern, winters are often dry and sunny, with the clear nights allowing frosts to form. The Airport records a reasonable amount of sub zero minimums, although the old town site ( records from 1957 to 1998 ) have recorded mins as low as -4.4c in the winter months. Other Darling Downs towns to the south of Toowoomba have dipped as low as -10c ( Stanthorpe and Warrick. ). All in all, one of Queensland's better climates, not too many extremes.... a +38c ( 100f ) is a rarity, only 9 such days at the Airport since 1997. And a sub 10c max ( 50f )is equally rare with 12 such days since 1997. A solid B

B-. Ideal for me with temps/rainfall pattern. Hopefully all that rain is from thunderstorms.

C+ One of the better near-snowless climates out there, but I'd prefer much colder winters, slightly warmer summers, and more precipitation.
