While discussing Argentina's climate in the Shoutbox, it made me imagine how the Patagonia region would change if the Andes ended around the 40th parallel south and under this scenario southern Argentina will receive as much rain as the rest of the country. I know many forumers here prefer dynamic weather patterns though would you rather have the current one or escaping from the dryness? Modification from the original: *3°C cooler record highs & average highs every month *1°C cooler record lows & average lows every month (therefore, 2°C cooler average mean while diurnal range goes 2°C narrower) *Added 40mm precipitation every month (480mm more precipitation annually) *Added 4 precipitation days every month (48 more precipitation days annually) *Increased snow days *20% higher relative humidity every month

I'm a dryness lover, but I'm going with fictional one

So let me get this straight…removing the Andes rainshadow, somehow prompts you to reduce snowfall, rather than increase it?? Pardon me, but that's absolutely fucking . Being windward in the SH is a whole lot different to the NH; the only form of winter precip in the SH at these latitudes, is that of cold fronts i.e. the westerly LWT storm tracks of the Southern Ocean. So snowfall can only INCREASE with a more windward position. Also, winter precip should be increased a lot more relative to summer precip—westerly exposure = a stronger winter precip peak. Also, the annual mean temp should be a whole lot cooler in the windward/fictional Comodoro—maybe even 2.5° C cooler. As can be seen here with Warrnambool (windward) vs Melbourne (leeward) @ 38° S; Warrnambool is overall much cooler, even in minima. Note also the strong winter precip peak of Warrnambool, as opposed to the more uniform pattern of Melbourne.

The fictional Comodoro is certainly an improvement over the real one in terms of rain.
