I’m more surprised by Manchester getting 12.7.

When I commuted into Manchester from Buxton I saw the same thing too: In the period I was working there I witnessed about twice as many thunderstorms as we had back home in Buxton.

Last summer, Manchester seemed to be getting thunderstorms every day! The North West in particular got a lot of storms last year. The 9 for North Yorkshire does seem about right. Interesting list though so thanks for that! Also, I actually visited Buxton for work last September. What a lovely little town it is!

Yeah that was a period in mid-June in particular, they had some every day for about 4-5 days. Buxton is a lovely town, just a shame about the weather!

Very green too, which I like. Trees and parks everywhere. For a city that's about the same size as Leeds, it somehow feels much smaller. I like that.

Sheffield has a rather small city centre compared to similar sized cities, plus Meadowhall takes away much of the footfall that would otherwise go to Sheffield city centre. Probably explains why it gives the impression of being smaller than it actually is. It certainly is very green too.
