According to Dunno, who is a propaganda minister for the city and always tries to make it look warmer and wealthier than it actually is That's because you have the wrong weatherbox. Yours is from Bradford. This is the right one for Leeds: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_FentonI'll go with Portsmoufffffffffffffffffff because of the sun and shit.

Not that it makes a difference, no-one has any reason to vote for our northern, middle of the road climates. Edit: Met Office seems to think Bingley is the best fit.

Buxton. If it's gonna be cloudy, may as well be with some heavier rain.

Buxton. If it's gonna be cloudy, may as well be with some heavier rain. I think it gets more snow than all the others, which is why it's doing surprisingly well.

I was thinking the only appeal of mine was the maximum potential extremes, but Pershore seems to comfortably hold the crown in that regard

boombo , you're a Yorkshireman. Would you agree with Ariete in saying Church Fenton is the most representative station for Leeds? The Met Office seem to prefer using your nearest station. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_Fenton

I would agree with that even if it's not the ideal site for Leeds.
Bingley isn't even that representative of Bingley so we can discount that, the airport site is higher up than most of the actual city so gives cooler readings, Church Fenton is more sheltered than most of Leeds proper because it's in the Vale of York and a bit lower down, so it has a slight extra boost in terms of being a bit warmer/drier, but then again it doesn't have a UHI like Leeds does, so the extra warmth it might get naturally from being where it is is probably similar to what Leeds gets from being a big urban area.

I thought UHI mainly affects the lows? Met Office seem to prefer using Bingley for Leeds, although I'm not sure if they just switch to the nearest by default?

I think it mostly does affect the lows, but obviously that would affect the mean as well.
I don't know why anybody would use Bingley data for Leeds tbh, even Bradford would be better - that's nearer as well.
