Vaasa for being warmest in summer when looking at means. I don't want cold summer nights. Also, Trondheim gets too much winter rain for being near the Arctic Circle. At that latitude I'd want a permanent winter snow pack to make things brighter. How much winter rain does Trondheim get? Its winters are warm enough for winter rain but seems like upper atmosphere temperatures are generally always cold enough for snow when lows bring precipitation . This is what weatherspark says for Værnes, Vaasa airport and Kramfors airport (pretty close to Österforse, though a little lower elevation and closer to the sea). Weatherspark's figures should be taken with a grain of salt though. Kramfors Airport (representing Österforse) Trondheim Værnes: Vaasa airport: Finland does get less snow than Sweden, which is represented in these data. According to Weatherspark, Trondheim Værnes and Kramfors Airport get about the same amount of total snow, and as often, but more of it falls as mixed precipitation in Værnes, and there's a lot more rain. Again, take it with a grain of salt as these aren't accurate data. It's probably more or less representative of the differences though.

I found a Vaasa 2002-2016 weatherbox on my computer and the records don't match Baba's box:
Yeah I think I'll change my vote to Vaasa.

You're using a different time period and station, I don't see your point. The only thing that's off is the June record which was set in 2011, the year with missing data for the airport station. And what the hell kind of station did you use for the records before 2010? The weatherbox you made is based on Klemettilä and the Airport (Klemettilä opened in 2010), but the airport reached -30'C on 7 different days during 2002-2010, yet your record low is -26.8'C? Did you use the station located meters from the sea for records, but not for averages? I'm so confused. Besides, my intention wasn't to compare the towns, but the stations. Vaasa airport was the warmest station in Finland active during all of 2002-2018 for my target latitude that wasn't a station in the sea.

Of course the record lows are going to be wildly different when you use a station located literally right by the sea for 2002-2010 when all the coldest winter temperatures were recorded. That station averaged a low of -14'C vs -18'C at the airport in January 2003. Besides, my intention wasn't to compare the towns, but the stations. Vaasa airport was the warmest station in Finland active during all of 2002-2018 for my target latitude that wasn't a station in the sea.
Well it's pretty fucking foul play by you just leaving most of 2011 (also Vaasa's 5th warmest summer) out when there is another station existing just 5 km away. Vaasa Airport hit 32.0C in June 2011 so it should've definitely be added. In my box only 2011-2016 are from Klemettilä, the earlier are from that same airport.
If you're hell-bent not to use Klemettilä, drop 2011 from the other stations as well for fairness' sake.
For an inland station you could've used Seinäjoki Pelmaa, operational since 1928 at 62.94N.

I'd already spent quite some time on the weatherbox already when I noticed most of 2011 was missing, and I would've had to redo everything + extra work on top of that to fill in the missing data from other sources. I'd already spent way more time than I had expected. It was also the last of the weatherboxes I did Vaasa was already a little further south than I'd have ideally wanted. Looking at more stations now, I see that Kauhava would've been a good one. It's basically got the same highs as Forse year round (milder in winter, but cooler in spring), but with milder lows in every month. But using a station that's basically exactly the same as Forse except 80m lower elevation felt pretty pointless. Vaasa sits at a happy medium. Also, FMI's data browser is pretty shitty because it doesn't even tell you which stations have data or not for the selected parameters and timeframe, and I didn't want to spend that much time browsing for stations with interesting data. I know of Vaasa, it's the most distinctive place at that latitude in Finland, I saw its station had data for 2002-2018, so I picked that one. Fmi is definitely the worst out of NOR, SWE and FIN for data. Stop taking this so fucking personal Ariete. This isn't an attack against you or your country.

Redo how? You just add 2011 to fill the blanks.

Because I'd already filled in a fair bit of the weatherbox with data when I noticed 2011 was missing. I used FMI's open data because that's the only official data I knew of. en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/download-observations

I have been to Trondheim many times and it actually is one of my favorite places in the world. It's climate is not that bad when compared to the rest of Norway.
