I mostly wanted to do this climate battle because I think Österforse is a very interesting climate for its latitude and altitude (63.2'N and 125m ASL), so I compared it to the only stations with continuous data at that latitude in Norway and Finland (not counting the super coastal stations in Norway of course). And before you go and lynch me for using 2002-2018, it's simply because Schlommo the autist had already made a 2002-2018 weatherbox for Österforse, and so using that period I could just steal his data and save myself some work.
The three contestants, from mildest to coldest:
Trondheim Værnes at 63.45'N:
Vaasa Airport at 63.06'N (most of 2011 was missing which was a cold year, and June 2015 was mostly missing as well which was a cool month)
And Österforse at 63.14'N and 126m ASL (Records are since 1901 compared to 2002 for the others)
Norway is worthless at recording sunshine, so there isn't any station anywhere near Trondheim with any sunshine data for 2002-2018. Værnes recorded sunshine for about 20 years and averaged around 1200h, but there were most likely some obstruction issues. Trondheim Tyholt averaged around 1300h while it was active. I'd guess that Trondheim Værnes would average around 1500h for 2002-2018 without obstruction. Österforse would be about 1700-1800h, and Vaasa airport about 1800-1900h.
If I were just going off temps, I'd probably pick Trondheim Værnes. However, the gloomier weather, especially spring and summer, as well as the much higher rainfall amounts, puts it in last place for me. And if I have to choose between Vaasa and Österforse, I'll pick Österforse for the warmer highs from March to September. It's colder in winter, and it has cooler lows in every month, but the difference in winter isn't that big, and I don't care about lows that much. Also, it's probably less windy since it's much further from the sea than the other two.
