Three consecutive days with thunder here, although there's only been about 4 drops of rain with them.

Worst case scenario up to 60mm here according to the BOM. Also one of the BEST forecast summer days possible to the WORST. From Kununurra to a Seattle May in 2 fucking days. More than 10C BELOW average. And it will continue indefinitely.

The 3rd February looked fun, I remeber that day becasue it was my first day at school and from memory it was dry and sunny that day where I lived...in fact the whole of 2005 was like that.

One of the sites near Hamilton recorded 43mm in 10 minutes ! That's some serious rain. Localised downpours here yesterday -I drove past a creek yesterday that was in flood, but the next valley over, and the creeks were clear. 147mm of rain over the last two months, but 123mm fell in one 24 hour period, so things are drying out a bit. First tomatoes of the season are ready, so I can call them spring tomatoes.

Some sensationalism from the BOM re the expected rain in Melbourne...
Quotes from the BOM extreme weather meteorologist Scott Williams:
-'Half the inhabitants of Melbourne have probably never seen something like this.' - 'We are in uncharted territory.' - 'This is a vast, intense, high impact event for this state.'

The usual rule is that the bigger the hype, the bigger the fizzer. We shall see. I expect better from a senior official at the BOM than to use rediculous language like this.

Had a quick shower here while it was 33C with 20C dewpoint. Good chance of storms tonight, got the booze locked and loaded. After that though, comes one of the shittest crummer forecasts I've EVER seen...

After that though, comes one of the shittest crummer forecasts I've EVER seen... That crummer is also forecast for Eucumbene; I'm getting a 5°-9° C (!!!) diurnal range on Sunday after the storms. Fucken English winter temps in early summer...

Eildon has had 93mm of rain since 9am yesterday morning, and they've been stuck under green/yellow all day. Could break a serious record here, watch this space. Currently the record for highest daily rainfall is 101.3mm, on the 18th of March, 1950. Rainfall has also been recorded here for 130 years! www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV60801/IDV60801.94881.shtml
