The Mets run differential is certainly among the worst in the league despite their winning record. All their wins are close games as they don't score any runs but pitch well, and their losses are blowouts as when they pitch poorly, they still can't hit.

They are near the top of the league in offense. A few games go their way, maybe the pitching improves, and they're in first place.
AL East will be extra-scary next year. It's already an insane division this year. But if Blue Jays start playing to their Pythagorean, and the Yankees stop underperforming, then it can really be a historic division

Yankees beat the Red Sox twice today to find themselves in the Wild Card spot. On July 4th, the Yankees were ten games outside the playoff spots. Crazy turnaround
