Hop aboard the train from London town to the ancient Byzantine capital. We're leaving the UK and going through France to Italy, stopping off throughout Eastern Europe, detouring a tad south to Greece, back up again to Bulgaria and then stopping at the gateway to the East. All the climates here aren't my cup of tea obviously but none of them are below a D. 1) London, UK 2) Paris, France3) Milan, Italy4) Ljubijana, Slovenia5) Split, Croatia6) Podgorica, Montenegro 7) Thessaloniki, Greece8) Plovdiv, Bulgaria9)Istanbul, Turkey

Plovdiv for being the most continental, looks like it could potential get decent snowfalls in winter too.

Thessaloniki for me, though Split is pretty close to being my pick.

Yeah, in fact Podgorica. I wonder it's warmer than Istanbul even according to older averages.

Split, Croatia for having the mildest winters.

I voted Split, but could have voted for any 4 or 5 really...mildish winter, warm summers and 782mm.

forgot to put what I picked. I went for podgorica in the end over Split because it warms up quicker, is more exciting and the there's nothing really in the winters to sway me to Split.

Ljubijana, Slovenia My Fiance (then GF) and I went there after visiting Florence, Venice and Trieste. Lots of slavic culture there, proper winters, and also very good pastries .

Ljubljana is my favorite. Great temperature profile, it's just a bit too wet and gloomy but not a dealbreaker. Most of the others are okay for me as well, some too hot in the summer but none of these are awful by my standards, just a bit too monotonously warm for the most part.

Istanbul for getting the most cold fronts, and likewise the most snowfall relative to average temps. Also for its excellent precip pattern and sunshine patternβreally love the contrast between its cloudy winters and sunny summers.
Loving this recent trend of high quality threads that actually have a point. Keep it up ππ»

I think I'll go with Podgorica even despite the deluge of cold rain in the winter - at least it's not pathetically dry, and at least it has a full three-month summer.

Podgorica. Best winters and close to the best summers.

Not that sure about it. Ljubljana and Plovdiv likely get more cold snowy fronts.
