Most notable crummer for me was 2012. Cheesehead probably loved this one but I hated it. It was one of the hottest summers and I worked outside for a roofing company doing general labor. May 31st was a cool day with a high in the 40s and some drizzle. I had the day off of work and went for a walk outside, not knowing what was to come... It only rained once in June, a few hours of storms at night on a weekend. The second half of the month started getting hot. July was even worse with a few 100F highs and only 0.09" of rain the first 18 days. It was the largest drought I can remember and many places canceled their fireworks for independence day. Those were some miserable days. I would really struggle in a place that gets hot like that for months on end (Texas, Arizona, etc).
The second half of July was warm but wet, finally some rain. August had normal temps but was on the dry side. I was really happy to go back to school in the fall.

July 2021 in Shitchester. Averaged 78/61 wish 7” and 20 days of rain. Most of it wasn’t storms either, just showery day long rain. A couple days were in the 60s with rain much of the afternoon, one day had over 3” of rain. Also like 40% possible sunshine. Extremely boring, shitty month, just cloudy with stratiform rain day in and day out like it was April or October.

The summer of 2000 was def a summer bummer in the Northeast. Max temp in Rochester was only 88°F, and in June!

This July is the shittiest since 2012 if you like dry weather, sun and warmth. I don't care for warmth but the constant frontal rain and dullness is getting tired and this month is little better than autism I mean autumn.
