In all the annals of epic human exploration, I daresay no one had bigger cojons than Ferdinand Magellan ! Sailing off into the great unknown at a time when it was thought that one could sail off the edge of the world..... storm and tempest, scurvy and starvation, mutiny and murder, sex and spices, death and destruction, power and plunder.... Only one ship and 18 men returned to Spain after three years at sea. The expedition began with 5 ships and the company of 270 men. Imagine for a moment, after wintering in Patagonia, then searching for and finding the passage to the Pacific Ocean via the Straits of Magellen, then sailing for 4 months across the Pacific before landing on Guam, thence the Phillipines and the Spice Islands...... You wouldn't wanna sail home..... Departure from near Cadiz Re provision at Canary Islands South American Coast, Rio de Janerio A mutiny at Puerte San Julien The Straits of Magellan, Punta Arenas The Marianas, Guam The Phillipines, Zamboanga City The Spice Islands, Muluccas, Ambon,Indonesia Timor, Dili Cape of Good Hope, Cape Town. Cape Verde Islands

Rio de Janeiro. It's one of my favorite climates in the world, period.

Dili is the best.
Rio is better for temps, but it’s far too cloudy.

If I was living in the 16th century and don't have a suitable heater or air conditioner around, I think I'd choose the Canary Islands.

Cape Verde for the win as it's the driest and sunniest while still maintaining tropical temperatures.
