So, we've done the West African wet spots, so now we'll jump on board a trans Saharan camel caravan. Some of the remotest and most inhospitable climates on the planet. Also some of the dryest.... hard country that produces hard people... The Sahara  Tamanrasset, Algeria... the nearby Hoggar Mountains one of the last Toureg strongholds 'pacified' by the Colonial French. An addendum to Ghadames, Libya....
"Ghadames modern heat record is 48.4°C (119.1°F) in July 1977. The hottest temperature measured in Libya during the modern era is 50.2°C (122.4°F) at Zuara in June 1995. In Algeria there is an ancient report of a 53°C (127.4°F) temperature occurring on August 27, 1884 at Ouargla".
