The best solo Beatles song, an the best song Paul McCartney ever wrote, IMO. A love song to his wife, who'd pulled him through his lowest period. Even more impressive is that it was genuinely solo. He wrote, recorded and producd it all himself, mostly at home. He played every instrument in this recording.

this is one of their best Yeah, it is one of the best. Penny Lane in Liverpool has made god knows how much money out of this one song.

One of my personal favourites. A song that began the psychedelic era, and an arrangement that sounds way ahead of its time. It sounds like something from the 90's to me.
The story behind the song is also cool. It's about an acid trip they had with the actor, Peter Fonda, who had been pronounced dead but then revived.

This is still played in English classes in Japanese schools.

Heard an interesting little piece of trivia on the radio this week. March 25, 1968 was the final episode of 'The Monkees' and the Beatles allowed use of their music for the first time.

A rare example of a song making use of a clavioline.

These Ringo-fronted songs ought to prescribed as anti-depressants.

How could anyone dislike Ringo. Finally gets a chance to write a song, writes about an Octopus.
