This was so ahead of its time that it still sounds futuristic even today. Maybe the first electronic pop song?

This was written about an NRA poster he saw, with the title, "Happiness is a warm gun!"
All 4 members chose this as their favourite White Album song.

snj90 , I think you'd enjoy this if you get an hour spare one evening. Saw it on TV a couple of years ago. A good documentary about the making of Sgt Pepper.

Strewthless - I watched it. Thanks for posting it - it was quite good. Interesting point about Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever fitting in with the childhood theme. I can see that. I have commented previously that, as a concept album, I have a tough time imagining any deviation from the actual listing. Not sure if I remember hearing the story about the poster behind Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite. Interesting, though. Really great song. I like the 19th century aesthetics. I already knew Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was inspired by John's son Julian's drawing, not so much an intentional reference to LSD, though perhaps it entered his mind. IDK. I knew the story about the car crash in A Day in the Life. That's another thing the "Paul is Dead" theorists propounded as a reference to Paul's death, lol. I knew that Paul's part of that song was originally intended to be its own song. Somehow it seems to fit quite well, even as a non sequitur.

As far as I'm concerned the proper track listing for Sgt Pepper is the 2017, 50th anniversary remix, that includes Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, as the band had intended it to be. Worth buying that 50th anniversary edition if you're really into the album. It has the best-sounding mixes of all the tracks, and includes various studio outakes and recordings that show how it all came together. It topped the albums chart here in the UK 2017, which was the record for longest time taken for an album to regain the top spot, just under 50 years. That was before Abbey Road went back to number 1 in 2019.

snj90 , the earliest footage of them performing. Surprised it's post-Pete Best. Ofc, it's the Cavern Club, where they were one of the resident bands. I've been there a couple of times, not exactly the same as it was in those days, but a cool space with lots of early-60's rock being performed live.

This is a pretty good song that Paul performed with the surviving members of Nirvana at the "121212" Hurricane Sandy relief concert in NYC.

Strewthless - Interesting, but I have to say I prefer the Beatles' version.

snj90, ever heard Let It Be, the naked version? All the songs before Phil Spector's controversial production. Across The Universe sounds like a folk rock song here:

Strewthless - Yeah, I have the Let it Be-Naked CD... or rather had it. I think it's at my parents' house somewhere.
I always liked the solo & guitar riffs on the Spector-produced album on the track Let it Be. But the Naked version and the version usually played on the radio don't have it. Overall, I can't say I prefer the Naked album. I think Spector did some good things with it, such as all the orchestral bits, which I know Paul and the others didn't like.
