Strewthless - Pretty neat that it's all so available now. It was when I was 12 or 13 years old that my dad gave me a copy of a Rolling Stone magazine - because in that particular issue, the featured article was on the rooftop concern, the breakup of the Beatles, the drama at Twickenham Studios involving the members of the Beatles, and the controversy surrounding Phil Spector. But that was the first I'd heard of the rooftop concern. I believe that was because of the release of the Let it be naked album at the time.

It was in that publication that I heard about George's short-lived departure from the band. Lennon, under the influence of heroin, was relatively unfazed, and suggested they get Eric Clapton to replace him. I also remember a particular quote attributed to Paul, where he stated that he wasn't interested in spending his fucking days farting around.

As I'm sure you're aware, Peter Jackson is working on a new film about those sessions, which take a more positive tone. it challenges the narrative that those sessions were completely miserable. They're not the kind of personalities that would have sat around all day depressed and argumentative, they're jokers above all.

Not sure about challenging the narrative, but I reserve judgment. After all, as I mentioned, the drama was bad enough for George to quit the band temporarily.

Ringo quit the band briefly during the White Album sessions and Paul had to replace him as drummer. Paul also stormed off for a short period when they were recording Revolver and George took over the bass part for a song.

Some of the reactions in the video are funny - especially at 8:53-9:01. An imposition to absolutely disrupt all the business in this area. Yeah, the rat race must come first.

There was some disageement over the song "She Said She Said" and Paul stormed out, refusing to play on it. The details are vague over what really happened. Apparently the police were actually quite polite, they mostly just stood around watching it and let them finish their set.

snj90 , all 27 number 1's ranked on a UK TV program. Amazing how many good songs of theirs aren't even on the list.

Strewthless - The first Beatles CD I had was their "1" album with all the #1 hits. But there are so many good songs of theirs that were not #1 hits. I probably have more favorites from their repertoire of non-#1 hits than I do the #1 hits.

Impressively it was the best selling album in the world during the 00's decade, which contributes to the Beatles also being the best selling rock band of the 21st century, despite the fact that they effectively broke up in 1969

Forgot about this one. Heard it on the radio earlier, maybe the best song on the White Album.

snj90, I'd always thought this was just a simple acoustic guitar song until I'd listened more closely with headphones on. It's sonically brilliant and production was is actually elaborate. With an orchestral backing and one of the earliest uses of a modern synthesiser in a popular recording. George Harrison was one of the first people in the country to own a Moog Synthesiser, and knew how to work them. They were huge machines, it needed its own room in Abbey Road. Also complicated as hell to operate, barely anyone could figure out how to use them properly, but it paid off for those who took the time to learn it. John Lennon said that some of the songs on the album have the Moog playing tunes that only dogs can actually hear
