Imagine you own dream climate, if you had to have a dry season (whether you have a Cold continental or tropical climate) when would prefer the majority of the precipitation to fall?
Personally, I like an even pattern - but in the case of this thread - I prefer the winter being wetter due to more snow and even cold rain makes a winter feeling better. If I want more sun and less precipitation, I prefer it in summer.

How dry is this "dry season"?

I'm not too picky on precipitation patterns, but I'd rather have wet winters because I'd rather have dryness in the summer.

How dry is this "dry season"? Less than 0.5" per month for at least 4 months.

Wet summer. Summer precipitation at least falls as thunderstorms, while cold rain is absolutely awful so wet winters are a big no no.

Wet summers, not even close. I want there to be ample rain during the growing season with little chance of drought, lush vegetation in summer, and lots of sunshine during winter.

Same and I want to have wet winter/dry summer too. Putting them in my dream climate, DP would rarely exceed 15Β°C.

Summer wet season and it's not even close. Seeing big thunderheads build in the distance is one of my favorite parts of summer.

I like it spread out throughout the year, but I like sunnier Springs and Summers. I like thunderstorms a lot as well.

We were just having a shoutbox discussion on this and decided to see where everyone stands. Seems like most that are from cold climates like sunnier summers and wet winters and warmer places prefer wet summers overall thus far.

A dry summer doesn't have to be bone dry and there can still be thunderstorms. I just don't want monsoonal summers anymore.

Wet winter of course, and entirely from cold fronts and/or Northwest Cloudbands. I love cold rain, sleet, snow, black polar clouds, and emerald green grassβ¦winter will never be complete without them IMO. Likewise, summer wouldn't be complete without constant sunshine and unrelenting droughtβand thus prolonged heatwaves. As for stormsβ¦my storm season starts late winter (Aug) and finishes late spring (Nov), so yeah, I don't need summer storms (and anyways winter/spring frontal storms are much more fierce than plain old summer storms).
My dream climate's driest month is Feb (late summer) @ 48.6 mm vs Jul (mid winter) @ 122.5 mm; the dry season extends into autumn, before skyrocketing in May; and the wet season into spring, before plummeting in Nov.

If I had to pick solely between summer and winter I would prefer a wet summer and dry winter.
Even better would be a dry season from late summer to mid autumn (late August to mid October), whereas ample rainfall in May and June is very important to me.

Damn less than 0.5" for 4 months is pretty severe. If I had to pick solely between summer and winter I would prefer a wet summer and dry winter. It depends on how the rain falls. If it falls in quick downpours then it's over, I would rather it be in the summer. Otherwise if it's drizzle, I would rather have a wet winter and a dry summer. I don't want drizzle in the summer... that would be awful.

Well I actually live it, wet summers and dry winters. And when I say dry, I mean real actual rainless months. A couple of times in the last decade we've experienced 5 full calender months without a drop May through September. May and Sept usually gets a few showers, June July and August are clear, warm and sunny with the prevailing winds from the south east ie: coming from the dry continental landmass. Darwin in July looks barren and dry and in January lush and green. Dry season Wet season

Wet winter, easily. Love emerald green grass in the colder months.
