I'm talking about the 4-city area straddling the IA/IL state border in the Mississippi river valley: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quad_Cities#GeographyFor continental climate lovers, I'd like to know how it stacks up against other Midwestern climates. Living in the Quad Cities is like travelling back and forth from the tropics to the Arctic, and everything in between, every 6 months. The blessed folks that live there can enter an infinite lockdown, they will never be travel-starved. As for the skeptics out there, here are listed below some of the area's recent achievements (unfortunately, I couldn't list them all), evidence that the climate supports human well-being like probably no other: - In 2007, Davenport and Rock Island competed for and won the title of "most livable small city" from the National Council of Mayors, based upon an unfunded proposal called RiverVision.
- In 2008 Bettendorf was ranked by CNN as one of the ten best places to buy a house in the United States.
- In 2010, the Quad Cities were named "the most affordable metro" by Forbes magazine.
- In 2012, Davenport housing market ranked second in the nation beating the housing bubble, due to its lack of foreclosures and their low unemployment.
- In 2012, the Quad Cities Metropolitan Area was ranked among the fastest-growing areas in the nation in the growth of high-tech jobs.
- In 2012, the Quad Cities were named the "2012 All American City"
- In 2013, Modern Woodman Park was voted the best minor league ballpark in America.

I'm sure it's a nice place to love but the climate stinks. Winter far too cold and snowy for my liking. F.

It's basically Des Moines so I can appreciate its epicness for a 4 season climate but cold winters means it can't go above a D.

Sorry, Rozenn, but I know a thread already exists to rate Caracas, Venezuela, but this one is different. Caracas, Venezuela IS perfection. well, almost. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caracas#ClimateI mean come on, who wouldn't enjoy this deliciousness??? a climate so good you can run around naked 24/7 all year if you wanted to. enough rain that it isn't dry, but not so much rain that gets in the way. tons of thunderstorms during the summer to keep things interesting and exciting. fairly humid but not super humid. humidity is good for your skin and keeps you youthful beautiful mountains and beautiful tropical vegetation. if, and i mean IF, i had to give negatives they would be small negatives: -not enough variation, my perfect dream would have about a 10°F spread between the coolest and warmest months, where Caracas is only a 4.5°F spread. -a bit more sunshine hours annually. 2500 is fine but 2800 would be ideal. -low latitude and somewhat high elevation means an increased risk of sun burn -coconut palms probably don't fruit well due to the cooler temperatures so i guess i'd prefer a few degrees warmer during the summer months but isn't Caracas awesome? no? too bad. its your dream climate even if you don't realize it. i give it a solid A. not perfect, so i can't give it an A+, but it is so far the climate on earth that is closest to perfection.

A-/B+ great climate just needs to be a bit colder and snowier in the winter. I'd prefer Dubuque, IA or La Crosse, WI up the Mississippi.

A/A- March and November could be a shade warmer, and winter could be a touch snowier, but honestly it looks pretty awesome. Record lows outside of summer are maybe a bit on the cold side.

C, too cool for too long. But definitely a proper four-season climate. It has properly cold, snowy winters but also has decently warm summers.

B- summers are WAY too hot, not cool enough in winter, not nearly enough snow

I give it a B. A bit too sticky in the summer, and the flat landscape would make it rather boring. Winters could use a bit more snow. Less wind would be nice too.

B+. Warmer than I like but still a good four-season climate. Climates to the north get a better grade for the colder winters.

B, too warm in summer for me and not quite cold enough in winter or snowy enough. Overall pretty good though
