february summary part 2 what a fucking sad sack of shit this month was. fucking coldest in decades with subarctic frigid low temps straight out of antarctica and more fucking snow days than rain days FFS. This gay piece of shit doesn't even deserve a proper summary. this is the climatic equivalent of straight up ball cancer with only a wet cold month being worse in the form of perhaps brain cancer or something
To make matters worse, the first week of Gay is forecast to be wet and cloudy with temps FIVE DEFUCKINGREES BELOW AVERAGE. YOU READ THAT RIGHT. No end in site to frigid Boretherly winds.

Average precipitation: 43.7mm | Average precipitation days (>0.2mm): 9.6 | Average relative humidity: 70% | Mean monthly sunshine hours: 183.0
Temperatures were close to average, although both sunshine hours and rainfall were below average. There were a couple of relatively strong cold fronts (around the 11th and the 21st). Interestingly, our highest temperature this April was higher than March's and almost as high as February's. Overall, this April wasn't too bad, probably the best month of 2021 so far in terms of interesting weather events, despite a monotonous stretch towards the end.

April 2021 Summary   Temps right around average, yet profoundly dry. So far the most variable month of 2021; ranged from a max of 25.2° C on the 2nd, to just 7.1° C on both the 11th and 22nd. Hunters Hill managed 0.2 cm of wet snow/sleet on the 21st (precipitated at 1° C accordingly by hourly Obs), but my PWS recorded nothing of the sort. A brief late-season cold spell brought the first freeze in April since 2007 (the 29°F low on the 3rd also ties the April record low), but the warm spells a week later and late last week counterbalanced Easter weekend's cold. In addition, this April has been the 6th driest on record; this overall was a decent April.  Temps 0.5F below average and precip 7.74" above normal. 5th wettest April on record. Frequent storm systems brought heavy rainfall (the highest total from a single event was about 4"). Didn't see anything too severe locally but there were some tornado and hail reports in the area. Slightly above average high, average low so it came out a couple degrees above the long-term. Nothing too notable this month other than an impressively cold 19 F/-7 C low early in the month and a high of 87 F/31 C at the end.  |

 Uni roof patio station: Average temps vs 1991-2020 (2011-2020) High: +0.7 (-0.2) Low: +0.3 (+0.2) Mean: +0.6 (+0.1) Sunshine vs 91-20: 116% (apparently 91-20 was 1h sunnier than 02-18, didn't expect that) Precipitation vs 91-20: ~150% (precipitation for feb and apr are only estimated atm) A fairly sunny April, though average compared to the last three years. A little above average in temps, but more stable than normal, and average compared to the last 10 years. A bit more precipitation than normal, almost all of which fell in frozen form. All in all a pretty decent April. Could've wished for a warmer warmest day though. |

Some other weatherboxes Kronoby had a comparatively mild January, and cool April compared to us. Muuuuch drier.  Trondheim had an exceptionably cold, sunny and dry winter. Pretty cool and sunny April  Landvik in SE Norway has had an extremely sunny start to this year. Also been a lot warmer (or less cold) compared to normal than most other places in the Nordic have been.  |

April ended up being nearly bang-on average (just 0.2C below). The first half of the month was much warmer than normal while the second half was on the colder side. It was also another extremely dry month with only 3.5mm of rain for a total of 15mm of precipitation in 2021 so far. A very strange April month, as cold Aprils tend to be cloudy and/or wet (only 2 previous Aprils were cold, dry and sunny - 1969 and 1976). April 2021 was the 7th coldest on record, the 7th driest on record and the 7th sunniest on record.  |
