What does Tiktok have anything to do with this
At least demographics.
I'll agree with you on one thing: TikTok is bad.

"Any activity I don't find interesting is gaytime." Beggars can't be choosers. Be grateful there's at least some new activity going on. Football and politics are also far less germane to the topic of weather than climate battles are. If you don't like the climate battles, there's no rule saying you have to post in or even click on them. They're not going to go away just because you don't like them though - they've been part of our forum's culture since what, 2011? I do. And you're absolutely right! This is indeed a weather forum. This is not a TikTok climate box forum. 89 replies in the NH Winter / SH Summer thread in 14.5 days, so 6.1 a day. Meanwhile there's 68 posts in the climate battles subforum since Monday afternoon Finnish Time, if the forum counter is accurate. This forum should have 68 posts in the weather threads and 15ish posts in the climate battle threads since Monday afternoon. This is my main criticism and my main point: we aren't a weather forum anymore, because most people do not post about weather.
What does Tiktok have anything to do with this Precisely nothing, but that's kind of par for the course given whom we're dealing with... What does Tiktok have anything to do with this At least demographics.
Pretty sure the average age of this forum is probably late 20s...

But climate battles are rarely only about weather or climate. Through the lens of climate battles, we can learn things about geography, demographics, heck even football and politics. In fact I'm planning to make a climate battle that combines football and politics.

As I said, it's not real activity. "A C from me" in a climate battle thread is not activity. It's a post, but it's not activity, because it doesn't activate anything.
I don't post in them or click on them, duh. But what they do are that they bury all the interesting stuff down the list of recent posts/threads.

The secret to making 'climate battles' more interesting and to generate 'activity' is to come up with some interesting out of the box themes, hopefully interesting geopolitical, geographical, socio/economic, sporting { soccer at pinch, I dont give a shit for soccer personally, its 'wogball' in AU, but if our national team are in it, well hell yeah, I support them }, historical, lifes experiences, all those sorta things rather than just raw data....gotta mix it up to make it interesting. I post up maps/locations of places and pics to accompany 'climate battles', and usually have a bit of a story to go with 'em, just for interests sake, rather than just a plain old Wikibox climate thing, which as we all know any twit can make and edit and fuck knows if the data is kosher. Apparently its a bit of a chore to download all the map and location pics before the Wikibox climate data....tough titty, its what I do....lol And I note that even old mate Ariete ( who by his own admission doesn't do 'climate battles' has commented on a climate battle I made re Finland and Northern Territory Finns....) cdweather.boards.net/thread/3707/finn-rd-berry-springs-finland

Indeed, and you're the only one bothering with that. And the back stories are what makes them even worth clicking on.

But what they do are that they bury all the interesting stuff down the list of recent posts/threads.
It is activity in the literal sense; more people logging in and making more posts is more activity even if there isn't much discussion to be had. I'm getting the sense you'd rather have NO activity than have a ton of activity that you find uninteresting. I'll admit - I participate in the climate battles; they can be interesting, and I like ones where the places have some connection between them or where it's a tougher decision that makes me think. Of course Perth is going to win if it's pitted against Vostok for example; that's a lazy climate battle and you'll just see five responses of "Perth", while a greysrigging climate battle of (for example) Australian mining towns has a greater potential for attracting discussion and making people balance several different climatic factors in their minds before making a final decision. But regardless, I find it easier to mindlessly post in a handful of climate battle threads than to spend my time making effort posts in the weather threads, especially if my local weather is pretty boring. Just as "Moscow" or "C-" doesn't really generate discussion, "33 F and cloudy" in the weather obs thread doesn't really generate discussion either. I'd rather see an increase in activity relating to weather records, interesting statistics and climates of the world, weather history, discussing weather and climate genetics in a way that people can learn from it (i.e. more rigorous than the crap on CD but lighter on the jargon so I and others can understand and learn from it), etc. Let's get more activity in these areas, improve the sense of community, bring in some new posters who would add to what we have, and revitalize the forum across the board. And if you think people who post almost exclusively in climate battle threads are an issue, let alone a new issue - remember this thread from 2015. Nobody really mentions theelectricspider39 or ProtoStrata among our core members even though they were plenty active rating each other's fictional climates in that thread - and my imaginative side that likes fictional climates and worldbuilding found some of it quite interesting. TL;DR: we need new blood and an increase in interesting activity, but as someone who does enjoy a good fictional climate or climate battle, it's better than nothing - and not a new issue that a lot of our activity is concentrated in those threads either.

Myself and tommyFL have made this forum more active, and with quality, weather-related posts notwithstanding the fact that I bumped a bunch of climate battle threads on the first day.

fairweatherfan , cawfeefan , and I also make themed climate battles. I got the inspiration from greysrigging , and have done it for a while now too. Here are my climate battles.

Gaytime is in full afterburner as per fuck this time of the day...but today, in particular, takes the cake. 10 (!!!) hour old shoutbox comments are still visible to everyone (just scrolling up a little bit would reveal them).
