Honestly the most impressive thing to me about heat in Death Valley such as this is the consistent triple digit minima.

Not sure if this should go here or on the seasonal discussion thread, but Stovepipe Wells had a 128°F high yesterday. It was an incredible 118°F at 1:20 AM PDT! ... Those overnight temperatures are something to behold. It was 128°F in Death Valley today. No chance of 130°F tomorrow--monsoon moisture migrating further northwest. So the record seems to be 130.0°F. Probably the all-time highest surface air temperature reliably recorded. For now.
