Port Hedland / DeGreysrigging. Almost faultless. Huh I thought the winter in Port Hedland was cooler and longer, thought it was like 10/25C in July.  7 months a year above 95F with the Mcghee levels of humidity there, I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

Interesting, the dew points are a bit lower than I would of thought.

Troughton is definitely worse:

I've spent some time on Troughton.....on the tarmac in a broken down chopper strapped in and ready for a flight out to the oil rig I was working on near East Timor. Fucken thing had a flat battery and wouldn't start, they eventually brought out a jumper starter pack towed by a tractor to crank it up. Me and my boss were seated directly behind the pilots ( this was a huge chopper....over 20 passengers and 2 pilots ), and its started up, then another hour before take off in the blazing wet season heat and humidity ( no aircon, when they fly about 8,000', its just natural cooling re the altitude ) because there was an oil pressure gauge not working. I could hear the pilots discussing it and it went like this :
Pilot 1: "guage not comming up...."
Pilot 2: "dont worry about it, that gauge is always playing up..."  ( me, listening to conversation, doing the old WTF thing ) )
Pilot 1: "We better wait a bit and see its ok...."
Pilot 2: "pussy...." as he's tap tapping the gauge, and doing all sorts of other shit with the cockpit controls and stuff. Me and my boss with some creeping anxiety over the whole thing as 2 weeks previously we took off from the Rig and the chopper ( a different smaller one ) dropped like a stone and nearly put us in the sea.
Pilot 2, still tapping the gauge, and fuck me it starts to work: "ha, told ya, lets go...."   Woop Woop and off we go, me and the boss slightly shitting ourselves, no one else on board knows anything except us as were were right behind the bastards. 

So anyway, about 3 weeks later to my story, this happened ( different crew change to our crew, we were contractors ) same chopper that nearly ditched us actually went into the sea !
