Both are on the 41° latitude. Sunshine hours are roughly similar, though from what I heard the US ones are "overstated".

Stupid and unfair comparison, as Launceston is on the downwind—Chicago is also at 42° N. This thread gives me strong Metsfap vibes with its idiotic and uninformed nature. Queenstown, TAS on the upwind is a much better comparison (although about 60 m lower than Chicago): That being said - I'm going very easily for Launceston. Much more sensible

Chicago for being better in every single way possible. Launceston has no snow, no variability, dry mild summers, mild winters, and no thunderstorms. Nasty climate.

Don't even need to look at the Wikiboxes to not like that continental Northern Hemisphere crap of a climate....

This is only my second climate battle thread here! First, I went for Launceston because it's a "large" city. Second, Wiki puts BOTH Chicago and Launceston at 41', so don't strangle me. Lol. Lastly and most importantly, I really didn't focus on the upwind/downwind side of things. Cut me some slack. Lol

Don't worry Ethereal , old mate attacks everyone for petulant reasons like this these days. However, if his son Joe90 created this battle, or something like Motueka vs Chicago, he'd going on about what an excellent and logical pairing of climates it is, along with the mandatory like-farming.

Launceston is far superior to Chicago for its drier summers and especially for its wetter and warmer winters.
In case knot is wondering, I'd still pick Queenstown over Chicago, simply for its nice mild, rainy winters.

Chicago, easily. Launceston is awful and boring.

Obviously Chicago, since it gets real cold and snowstorms.

Thanks man. Lol. It's all good. I don't think he meant any bad intentions. But yeah, folks here do tend to be biased and would play favourites (more evidently in the politics boards).

Launceston for me - Chicago is too cold for too long.

Launceston. Though occasionally want Chicago-type climates for sensing distinct seasons except for the summer.

Second, Wiki puts BOTH Chicago and Launceston at 41' Can you not read coordinates in degrees, minutes, seconds? I find this rather concerning. Wiki puts Chicago at 41° 52’ 55” N, which is 42° N and nowhere near 41° N. Launceston however is at 41° S.

Come on man, I’m not that thick. When have I ever posted an uninformed or stupid thread? Don't lie you shekel fuck. You spout climate BS all the time in the shitbox…and when corrected, you double down and claim it was "just a joke mate!". I would pity you, if not for your jewry.

However, if his son Joe90 created this battle, o r something like Motueka vs Chicago, he'd going on about what an excellent and logical pairing of climates it is, along with the mandatory like-farming. Nice strawman there. That's the total opposite of what I'd say for such an idiotic comparison as Motueka vs. Chicago, because Motueka is also a leeward climate just like Launceston.

I just saw the first numerical figure and I didn't go through the rest, tbh. But hey, I'll take a note of this next time. What matters is that they're both cities within the 41°-42° realm. Nobody said they're on the exact latitudes. Obviously, they'll be off. And Queenstown is downright outrageous. Why would I choose that instead? It wouldn't stand a chance with Chicago. Even me, a warm climate preferer, I would go with Chicago (begrudgingly) over that doleful climate. So I would assume people with my climate taste, alongside cold climate lovers, would all be going with Chicago. And besides, QT has no sunshine data. So it won't be a fair comparison.
