When someone refers to Scandinavian climate, as if it was just one climate. Many seem f*** unaware that this is one of the climatically most diverse regions of Europe.

For me I wouldn't say boldly seasonless but it doesn't have a proper step of each seasonal identity if you can feel certain temperatures at any time of the year.

I just love the snowy mountains of Denmark.

Scandinavia is, indeed, climatically diverse: ranges from cool oceanic and cool continental in Southern Scandinavia; to subpolar oceanic and subarctic in Central Scandinavia; to tundra and polar ice-cap in Northern Scandinavia and/or atop greater altitudes.
Just many different flavours of cold climate, really.^

People who say that:
"It's 90 degrees with 90% humidity" "Deserts are blazing hot in daytime and freezing at night" "Hurricanes are becoming more frequent because of global warming" "You can always put on more clothes" "Seasons are getting later and later" "It's too cold to snow" "Try living in <insert place> that has 110°F for months on end!" "OMG there is a heat wave, so it must be global warming!" and vice versa

Ever heard anybody from back home say that anywhere in Italy must be a warm climate all year round because it's known for its warm summers? Two that I hear a lot of living where I do are "Place X shouldn't be able to get colder weather than us because it's further south" and "Place X that's known for cold winters couldn't possibly get hotter than us in summer/vice versa".

Another stupid myth is that people say that tanning is brought on by hot weather, when in fact it is caused by ultraviolet rays.

Most people don't know April is just as good for outdoor tanning as August. I've actually argued with people about those exact months saying "der April gets snow how can you tan der" I actually ski in shorts in alearly April alot. It's warm and the snow is melting but it's nice to tan and ski at the same time lol

Lol, there's literally no noticeable difference in weather between late June and August. I remember in 2018, there was a heat wave in mid-June in the South and Midwest, and some news station (I forget which one) was saying "wow, it's so hot and it's not even summer yet!" Yes, hot weather in mid-June is so fucking unusual. I would love it if they would stop with the astronomical season nonsense.

So annoying, people love to exaggerate whatever condition they're experiencing. One of the dumbest things I've heard was when I first moved up here (DC area) and this girl was trying to tell that "winter is 70% of the year here in Virginia" um....what? This is Virginia, not northern Nunavut. We have more than five months with average highs above 70 F, and nearly a third of the year has average highs of 80 F and above. If anything, our warm season is very long.

Stupid shit. tbf the coldest temps are normally gonna occur under high pressure so little chance of snow which is where i think people get the idea that it cant snow when its really cold... still dumb tho

Only cold deserts like the Great Basin Desert get very large diurnal temperature ranges, but most Great Basin locations aren’t THAT hot in summer.

Just many different flavours of cold climate, really.^Which kinda doesn't make it diverse to me? I mean, yeah, Scandinavia is sort of diverse as the Koppen definitions go. But its 'climates' are overall similar in a way that they are all on the cool end of the spectrum. Of course, there can a 35C+ degree difference between the coast and the northern inland regions. But this could mean that it's -30C in the north and -3C on the coast. Tremendous difference, but still freezing. That's as "diverse" as as a country having tropical Savannah, tropical rainforest, tropical monsoon and the warm end of humid subtropical (Tampa/Brisbane). All are on the warm end of things. I don't think people would call such country "climatically diverse", don't you think?

Even I didn't realise how cool the Sahara gets at nights:

^I think he means blazing heat and freezing cold during the same day, so different seasons don't count. In pop culture for some reason there's this idea that a desert can somehow manage 40C and 0C in the same 24-hour period which I'm pretty sure is impossible on Earth (afaik).
The only thing I might slightly disagree with in ben's post though, is the idea that you can't always put on more clothes. I mean, on Youtube, there's a video of a guy camping outside for 8 hours at -75C (-103F) in Antarctica (see spoiler). That basically indicates that there are clothes available for almost every temp found on the planet. However, it is true that most people don't have sufficient gear for temps below 0F (-18C) or so, and that it's kind of hard to find.

Yes I meant about people who think that deserts can have 40°C days with 0°C nights. Pinnacles National Park in California has an average high/low of 95/45°F in July & August.
