Cobar, located in the central north of NSW, is located in a major mining and pastoral region about 700klm northwest of Sydney. I've passed through here many times on my travels, although never worked here. ( had a chance back in the day to work on mining construction in the district, but the pays/salaries offered were not as good as Western Australia or the Northern Territory, so I declined. )
Be that as it may, the town is your quintessential outback NSW locale with plenty of reasonably well paid employment opportunities. Climatically, the region gets a few extremes ( by Aussie standards ) of heat and cold, and although the annual rainfall is quite low, the district does experience some significant downpours.

As with most Aussie towns, there are often 2 or 3 historical weather recording sites. Cobar has the original Post Office Site ( rainfall, max and min temps 1881-1965 ), then the Cobar Meteorological Office ( 1962-2021 ), and the Cobar Airport AWS ( 1993-2021 )
