What is the average time between your first freeze and first accumulating snow (0.1").
For me it's 22 days. Oct 17th for first freeze to Nov 9th for first 0.1". Close to 1 month.

Average first freeze: September 26 Average first 0.1": November 2 Time between: 37 days
On the other side (spring)
Average last 0.1": April 11 Average last freeze: May 9 Time between: 28 days
Interesting how it's less time during spring than fall.
Also, odd that the first 0.1" on average is November 2nd when October averages 0.8" of snow. If you include last year's October (which got 7.8") the average is 1.0". Looking at 1991-2020 data, 9/30 Octobers (30%) got zero snow, the rest got a trace or more, seven got an inch or more, four got three inches or more, and two got six inches or more. I guess a few snowy Octobers skew the average a bit.

For a standard 1991-2020 PoR @ LGA and 1999-2020 (the full PoR) @ Farmingdale:
LGA first freeze Nov 26, first snow Dec 11 so about 2 weeks between. For Farmingdale its first freeze averages Nov 8, but it doesnโt have snowfall data available. But Farmingdaleโs first snow is probably slightly later than LGAโs due to being further east/more ocean influence. UHI doesnโt affect whether or how much snow will fall, but it does give LGA much less time between first freeze and snow as opposed to FRG.

I get snow a week before downtown Detroit. Source? What station do you use? Selfridge AFB has a station, and that one has an earlier first snow date than Detroit city airport.

For Milwaukee 1991-2020 First freeze October 22 / First 0.1" snow Nov 15 (24 days) Last 0.1" snow Apr 11 / Last freeze Apr 22 (11 days)
Outside the city the freeze dates will be earlier and later. The 11 day gap is so small because the UHI means it rarely sees a freeze past late April.
For Madison: The airport has less UHI than Milwaukee's. Oct 7 / Nov 11 (35 days) Apr 10/ May 3 (23 days)
