Another well above long term average month for both max and min temps at Darwin Airport. Rainfall totals well below average, although as per usual at this time of the year, it really is the luck of the draw if one happens to be under a thunderstorm somewhere in the Top End. The mean max temp of 34.5c is the second highest in 80 years of records, behind the 2009 mean max of 34.8c. We had 10 days exceed 35c, with another 2 (including today) managing 34.9c. The 2nd Oct failed to exceed 30c max temp, which has happened only 3 times since 2000, and 21 times since 1941. Mean min October temps broke an 80 year record with 26.6c being 1.7c above the averages since 1941. Also 3 days of the month equalled or exceeded the previous highest minimum temp for October. Each morning 20th-22nd recorded 29c, 28.8c and 28.8c..... really tested my 'I don't need aircon at night' mantra.... The 'build-up' rainfall for the Airport and the Northern Suburbs has been way below expectations. The Airport clocked 23mm on the 2nd and 3rd of the month and only 0.2mm since. Storms and thunder in the distance most afternoons, but some other bastards are getting the rain, not us long suffering northern suburbs residents. The median rainfall for Oct is about 52mm, so the total is less than half the median. The mean Oct rainfall is 70.2mm. It really is a dud season ( so far ) when Sept rainfall ( 26.2mm ) exceeds October.

Melbourne Airport October 2021 Summary:
Average max: 19.2°C (-0.8°C) Average mean: 13.7°C (-0.7°C) Average min: 8.1°C (-0.6°C) Max high: 27.3°C (28th) Max low: 13.6°C (28th) Min high: 13.8°C (11th) Min low: 2.6°C (12th) Precipitation: 130.2mm (268.5% of avg. precip) Precip days: 20 Precip days (>1mm): 13 Sun hours: 211.2hrs (95.9% of avg sun) Highest wind gust: 119km/h from the WNW (29th) A very wet month, below average in temperature and sunshine only slightly below average. I thought this month would be completely mediocre due to the temps but all things considered it had a bit of everything. Several thunderstorms, good rain events, a few clear days, and the highest wind gust in 10 years. A bit left to be desired in the heat department though, with a highest temp of only 27.3C and the lowest 'max low' since 1995.

I believe many French cities include Bordeaux, Rennes, Orléans and Dijon saw the sunniest October in recorded history. However, Paris had slightly more sunshine hours in 2018 than this year, at least speaking of the recent decade. - Paris, Île-de-France, France October 2021 Average: High 17.2°C / Low 9.2°C / Mean 13.2°CHighest: 24.0°C [19th] Lowest: 3.9°C [24th] Lowest High: 13.7°C [22nd] Highest Low: 15.0°C [20th] Precipitation: 80.3 mmPrecipitation Days: 11 Sunshine Hours: 170.5 hours Sunshine Percentage: 51.0 % Early October: High 18.0°C / Low 10.2°C / Mean 14.1°C / Precipitation 40.1 mm / 62.1 sunshine hours Mid October: High 18.1°C / Low 9.5°C / Mean 13.8°C / Precipitation 5.4 mm / 62.4 sunshine hours Late October: High 15.6°C / Low 8.0°C / Mean 11.8°C / Precipitation 34.8 mm / 46.0 sunshine hours - Torcy, Île-de-France, France October 2021 Average: High 18.0°C / Low 7.2°C / Mean 12.6°CHighest: 24.0°C [19th] Lowest: 1.1°C [22nd] Lowest High: 14.5°C [22nd] Highest Low: 15.0°C [19th] Precipitation: 78.1 mmPrecipitation Days: 11 Early October: High 18.7°C / Low 8.5°C / Mean 13.6°C / Precipitation 35.6 mm Mid October: High 19.0°C / Low 6.5°C / Mean 12.7°C / Precipitation 7.2 mm Late October: High 16.5°C / Low 6.6°C / Mean 11.5°C / Precipitation 35.3 mm - Seoul, South Korea October 2021 Average: High 20.5°C / Low 11.6°C / Mean 15.6°CHighest: 28.8°C [3rd] Lowest: 1.3°C [17th] Lowest High: 10.8°C [17th] Highest Low: 21.7°C [5th] Precipitation: 57.0 mmPrecipitation Days: 11 Snowfall: 0.0 cm Snowy Days: 0 Average Relative Humidity: 69.7% Average Wind Speed: 2.2 m/s Sunshine Hours: 168.4 hours Sunshine Percentage: 48.4% Early October: High 24.7°C / Low 17.8°C / Mean 20.8°C / Precipitation 46.0 mm / 30.4 sunshine hours Mid October: High 18.5°C / Low 9.8°C / Mean 13.8°C / Precipitation 10.3 mm / 53.1 sunshine hours Late October: High 18.5°C / Low 7.6°C / Mean 12.4°C / Precipitation 0.7 mm / 84.9 sunshine hours - Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan October 2021 Average: High 22.7°C / Low 14.7°C / Mean 18.2°CHighest: 30.1°C [2nd] Lowest: 7.9°C [24th] Lowest High: 15.3°C [22nd] Highest Low: 20.3°C [9th] Precipitation: 199.5 mmPrecipitation Days: 13 Snowfall: 0 cm Snowy Days: 0 Average Relative Humidity: 76% Average Wind Speed: 2.5 m/s Sunshine Hours: 163.0 hours Sunshine Percentage: 47% Early October: High 27.5°C / Low 18.6°C / Mean 22.4°C / Precipitation 115.0 mm / 60.1 sunshine hours Mid October: High 22.2°C / Low 14.9°C / Mean 18.2°C / Precipitation 36.0 mm / 42.3 sunshine hours Late October: High 18.9°C / Low 10.9°C / Mean 14.4°C / Precipitation 48.5 mm / 60.6 sunshine hours

Synopsis: A cool and dry October here in Tucson with a notable cold snap from the 12th-14th and a late season monsoon storm on the 3rd. Unfavorable synoptics prevented any of the moisture from the storms that battered the northern parts of the west to make it down here. Not much to write home about, but this has been a drier than normal October with slightly cooler than normal temps—with a cool spell mid-month, can't really complain about it overall. NOTE: On the evening of October 22nd, I believed that relocating my PWS was the best decision, therefore it may record slightly cooler nights now. See this for more information regarding why that was done. Average dew point (true average): 10.7°C (51.3°F) Average dew point (min. dew point + difference between max/min DP / 2): 10.7°C (51.2°F) Average 9 AM dew point: 10.8°C (51.5°F) Average 3 PM dew point: 11.9°C (53.5°F) Max. dew point: 19°C (67°F) for the 3rd and 4th, 4:00 PM and 12:25 PM, 2:25-2:30 PM respectively Min. dew point: –4°C (25°F) for the 14th, 11:00-11:05 PM Max. rainfall rate (instantaneous): 130.6 mm/hr (5.14"/hr) on October 5th, 2:31 AM Max. rainfall rate (10-min. avg.; on further thought 10-min. averages are better): 68.6 mm/hr (2.70"/hr) for October 5th, 2:30-2:40 AM Daily, hourly and 5-minute charts: Weather boxes for two main AP's for Rome area: Anomalies [for Ciampino AP; relative to 1991-2020 raw normals]: Average high: –0.2°C (–0.3°F) Mean: –0.7°C (–1.2°F) Average low: –1.2°C (–2.1°F) Precipitation: –74.2 mm (–2.92"; 23% of normal)*** ***October 5th and 6th precipitation strikes me as being too little for Ciampino AP; as that was brought by organized frontal showers and thunderstorms, extrapolating amount of precipitation from other sites gives a very approximate amount of 50 to 60% of normal.

A cool, cloudy and record wet (for Perth metro, wettest since 1965 otherwise) October. Only 11 days actually went above the average max of 21.5C due to a couple of heat spikes (15th, 24th) which skewed the averages a bit. Strong fronts from the 1st-3rd, 18th-21st and 24th-26th kept temperatures down and kept it very wet. There were 3 days above 25C overall. Honestly this month was just stuck in a pattern of below average, partly cloudy/mostly sunny weather interspersed with periods of strong cold fronts. High Max: 33.2C (15th) Mean Max: 21.5C (-1.9C) Low Max: 17.6C (25th) Monthly Anomaly: -1.55C High Min: 15.5C (16th) Mean Min: 10.4C (-1.2C) Low Min: 4.7C (6th) Rain: 122.8mm (325.7% of average 37.7mm) Rain Days: 14 Sun Hours: 273.5

October 2021 SummaryA cool month of somewhat above-average rainfall. In fact, this was the first cool October since 2016; and three of the last four Octobers were strikingly warm, in the order of +2–3 °C by anomaly—a definite trend-breaker. Anomalies @ Hunters Hill (1993–2020)• Mean Maximum: 14.8° C (–1.5° C) • Mean Minimum: 6.0° C (–1.2° C) • Precipitation: 99.2 mm (114.6%)

On the milder side & a lack of freezing lows. Naturally the leaves have yet to change much. Not many dry days, yet a good chunk of the monthly rainfall fell in just the last 3 days during some heavy downpours. This source occasionally has brainfart and misses days. I'll edit in the missing day when it appears on Tutiempo. I seem to recall it being 18/19C, but I could be wrong.
