I think most people favor the landscape found in places that have their ideal climate, but I'm curious if there are any exceptions?

My favourite landscapes are those of a tropical lowland rainforest, tropical montane rainforest and temperate rainforests. The first one and the warmer parts of the second one match my dream climates, but the colder parts of tropical montane rainforest and temperate rainforests don't match my dream climate.

I like the short grass prairie that my ideal climates feature, as long as there’s mountains in sight for interest.
However, my favorite types of vegetation (tundra, open taiga, open subalpine forest) are all found in awful climates that are much too cold and wet.

Yep—based in the South West Slopes of NSW, so lots of eucalypts, pines, and European-imported deciduous (most notably: poplar, willow). Furthermore, the late summer + autumn dry season ensures vibrant autumnal foliage among the decids.

My dream climate is most similar to the parts of the Northeast US that have very few evergreen trees. However, I prefer forests that are roughly 80% deciduous and 20% evergreen. I also like open forests/mixed prairie forest landscapes like those found in central Oklahoma, but those areas are hotter and drier than my dream climate.

I love tropical rainforest vegetation, but I'm too weak for the heat!

My vegetation preferences certainly match my climate preferences, as my favorite vegetation (mixed deciduous/evergreeen oak woodland) is found in the best climatic regions in the word, namely foothill regions of SoCal and much of the Mediterranean Basin (Spain, Italy, Greece).

This, except this kind of vegetation is much more widespread in NorCal.

I love tropical beaches, coconut palms, the whole shebang, so that matches up perfectly!
What doesn't match up is the fact I love good autumn foliage, and think the English countryside in summer is absolutely gorgeous. Can't exactly have that in my dream climate.

I like savannas and Mediterranean style forests and shrubs. And many of my favourite climates have such vegetation systems.

Almost. My ideal vegetation is a bit "warmer" than my ideal climate. It can survive in my ideal climate, but it's unlikely to be found there in the real world, though I'm sure it exists somewhere (probably Switzerland if I had to guess).
