I believe its winters are rather snowy, although not like Midwest US level (so to say). Heck, the place is known to get snow in summer as well. Australia should have a system that records snowfall. Perhaps we do? But I don't think it's measured at BOM. Niggar please. Mount Read is much snowier than anywhere in the Midwest in terms of snowfall (but obviously not snowpack—there's a big difference). And besides, the Midwest isn't particularly "snowy" to begin with…winters there are bone-dry with a typical winter month averaging just 20–30 cm at most stations. Snowy Hydro measures AU snow, but only in the alpine areas. However, data for snowy days can be located here: www.australianweathernews.com/snow/Snow%20days%20descending.htm

I honestly thought Mt. Read gets that slushy, melty kind of snow because of how fucking wet and skiddy the place is (or looks it from that climate table). But I stand corrected. Cos I see the Midwest as sturdily and vastly snow-packed (like in satellite maps) with that healthy, dry, full-on powdery snow. Or maybe that's just the perception from the media and films....

Snow is snow. Doesn't matter whether it's wet or powdery, so long as it's not sleet.
