Not a chance in hell. This is purely cuckvective cooling. Yeah yeah yeah. I see the wind is still NW there. Wind can switch to NE there even when it's not forecast. Perhaps on a calm night after high pressure has moved to the east. The chance of that happening on a night with such strong NW flow is very slim. If I were in Miami, I'd be far more worried about post-frontal stratus not clearing out than any wind shift. Although, it seems NWS Miami has gone way overboard with the forecast down there like usual, so it may be wise to temper expectations.

Fairly average January day, with a high/low of 38/26 and partly cloudy skies. Some flurries and sleet after sunset, no accumulation.

HAS CAPE TOWN RECORDED ITS HOTTEST EVER TEMPERATURE? Max Hererra, the climatologist who runs the @extremetemps Twitter page, noted that readings from Table Bay had taken Cape Town into unprecedented territory. According to preliminary data, the hottest temperature ever recorded in this part of South Africa beat the previous high by almost 3C. Itโs also understood that this was the first time Cape Town had been the hottest location in Africa โThe maximum temperature at Table Bay was an incredible 45.2C. Previous all time record (42.4C) of Cape Town destroyed by almost 3C. We will be waiting for the confirmation of ZA Met Office about the station because the exceptionality of this event. Cape Town was the hottest place in Africa yesterday โ never happened before.โ Max Herrera

Nice summmary of what's going on - And has been going on for a solid 3 weeks: Legends read as "Atlantic flow", "radiative cold" and "dynamic cold" (as in cold not limited to the lowest levels of the atmosphere), all this thanks to this semi-permanent western European high.

Crazy. And even some Greek islands have had snow. Reportedly, the most in several decades:

Got another nice coating of snow last night and early this morning. High/low was 30 F/20 F (-1 C/-7 C).
Another chance of snow tonight. Tomorrow looks like the warmest day in the forecast with a high of 36 F/2 C before getting colder again.

Sadly the fรถhn winds weren't that strong enough in Finland. Utsjoki Kevo Kevojรคrvi, one of the northernmost stations recorded 6.0C was the warmest high in Finland today, which is impressive in January, but up to 2C higher highs were expected in Lapland.

Quite cold and windy here tonight, -8 F (-22.2 C) with a NW wind at 12 mph, creating a wind chill of -26 F (-32.2 C) at 8:30 pm, predicted low of -19 F (-28.3 C) tonight but with stiff NW winds, wind chills by the morning could be in the -35 F (-37.2 C) to -40 F (-40.0 C) range.
Tomorrow could be one of the coldest days of winter, high of -5 F (-20.6 C) predicted and a low of -23 F (-30.6 C) tomorrow night. Looks like things will warm back up to seasonal after tomorrow, highs generally in the teens and 20s.

Another overperforming day. 25.1C low, 36.9C high and humid. Got stuck into the cider hard Ofcourse, no sign of the promised storms. What's truly unreal, is that the subarctic climates in SW Vic, and SE SA got up to 39C. Don't see the coldest sea level locations in Australia being hotter than here or outback SA, NSW, QLD, and NT too often.
