Perth just passed 5 days in a row of 40C+ maximum temperatures. The first instance of any Perth station having 5 days of 40C+ in a row.

So having read Noodleman's post on the latest developments re Perth's 40C days, I just spoke to my friend Mr Putin, and have arranged for delivery of a 100 megaton nuclear bomb. The bomb has been delivered presently:

La Tuque - Cute name for a town. Here's the polar vortex one week from now as per the ECM. Pretty solid area of low geopotentials over the Arctic, it will be difficult for a ridge to break through. No hint for wintry conditions in my neck of the woods, this winter has been a lame one so far, even by our lousy standards.

greysriggingBroke that record 24hrs later. Today got to 40.4C in Perth meaning the streak is now 6 days! Seabreeze has come through so theres no chance of going anywhere past 40.4C. Still a huge record breaking heatwave.

Heat Relief For Perth After A Scorching Week ( source: Weatherzone ) Perth has faced a scorching week without precedence, with yesterday being the 5th consecutive day with maximum temperatures peaking at above 40Β°C for the first time in its 120 year history. A round of offshore winds over the WAβs west coast along with general drier conditions over the north of the state have been the culprits. This comes on the back of a record hot December and summer as a whole. On Sunday, the city continues being extremely hot, with 40 degrees expected for today again. If this happens, today would be the cityβs 6th consecutive day reaching a 40 degree mark, setting a new historical record for Perth But good news, a heat relief is to come for Perthians. On Monday, a weak cold front will sweep across WAβs southwest dropping the temperatures to the low 30-s over the coming three days. However the relief will be short lived, and temperatures are expected to increase again from Friday 28th, with a high chance of Perth seeing extreme heat near (or above) 40 degrees over the next weekend. ECMWF Model: Tuesday 25th at 1400 WST. A weak cold front sweeping across WAβs southwest, helping drop the temperatures.

Frost Advisories in inland South Florida. Miami may get its first sub-50 F low of the season. It's gonna be 51 F at 10 PM there and then they'll get penised by NE winds and be at 55 F for the rest of the night. I know this all too well.
