Australia day celebrations Overnight low of 24.2C here, got to 38.7C, humid with dewpoints up to 22C, and got treated to some nice CG lightning just before Textbook Australia Day These storms are now hitting the same areas which had record rainfall over the last few days, washing away roads and rail lines

As a matter of fact, we could have a 50 F (27.8 C) diurnal tomorrow That ended up happening with us too! High of -2.5C yesterday, low of -32.0C for a total diurnal range of 29.5C, very high even by our standards. Kept warming up overnight and we're now at 1C this morning with a ferocious wind. The rollercoaster ride continues LOL. So weird to wake up to above freezing temperatures today when literally yesterday morning I nearly froze my face off scraping the hard-ass frost off of my car windows due to the arctic cold.

Ended up dropping to -32 C this morning here as well, -30.6 C at the airport. Also, recorded the first -40 F (-40.0 C) (and maybe only) wind chill of the season at the airport this morning! w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KSTC.htmlCurrently -15 F (-26.1 C) and cloudy here with a south wind, wind chill of -35 F (-37.2 C), and it's supposed all the way up to 28 F (-2.2 C) by 11 PM tonight, and then tomorrow we have 20 F / -20 F (-6.7 C / -28.9 C) forecast. Roller coaster indeed!

A very thin band of heavy snow struck east central Colorado and far west Kansas yesterday.
Weskan 12NW, KS reported an incredible 27β (69 cm) and Bethune, CO recorded 26β (66 cm). Thatβs almost a yearβs worth of snow for those places. Burlington, CO βthe largest down in the area had 15-20β as well.
The band was only a few miles wide though in a NW to SE direction, places outside of it picked up only 3-6β.

Some light snow showers are occurring in the western part of the state today, but we only have a 40% chance of snow here in Norman. It's nice to see, but won't do much to alleviate the drought situation.

Severe storms for the 7 billionth time this summer in Western Victoria. I reckon they've had a more active season than the Darling Downs this summer.
Horsham has recorded a 139km/h wind gust.

Very cold night in western Pennsylvania. Dropped to -8.4F here but much colder in the mountains. Lows were in the single digits on the mountain tops of the Laurel Mountains, but the valleys adjacent to the ridge plummented to around -15F. Smethport, PA - one of the coldest spots in Northern PA dropped to -18F, which still isn't quite as cold as last weeks -21F. Canaan Valley which is just into northern WV dropped to -31F this morning which NWS Pittsburgh thought may approach the all time record low for WV
